five stars is an understatement. I wish I could unread this book and forget every single little detail of it down to the cover so I can read it again and meet all these characters for the first time and cry and laugh and be on the edge of my seat all over again
Underwhelmed and disappointed... I thought it would get better after the second book which I didn't enjoy as much as the first book but my god what is this..... The characters are so annoying in here except for xander sometimes unless he is having any kind of interaction with Max then he's just as insufferable as the rest. that whole "thats my woman not in a patriarchal way" line will have me cringing till the end of times Avery is so whiny, Jamesons personality from the first book was literally thrown out of the window and now he too is annoying as hell and Grayson.....my god Grayson's character was absolutely DEMOLISHED with this book. I dont even care who Avery ends with I dont even like her ever since the hawthorne legacy and didnt want her to end with Grayson anyway because he deserves better but to ruin his character this bad is honestly unforgivable. The romance between avery and jameson was so forced and cringy I don't think I even believe in love anymore The plot doesn't help either: it becomes so convulated with extremely unimpressive riddles, plot twists you could predict from page 1 and the most boring angst and cringe dialogue between these insufferable characters. The ending with the chess game was so dumb my god..Blake's character was basically a comical villain how is anyone taking this seriously idc if avery gave most of her fortune away but the charity name 😭 as if all of this wasn't cringy enough she chose the WORST name for her stupid charity im not even gonna go into having Grayson drop out of harvard I am pissed enough for what jlb did with his character and if i talk anymore ill be mad
tldr: this book does not exist. do not read it.
The Inheritance Games 5.0⭐ The Hawthorne Legacy 3.75⭐
I hate this book with every fibre of my being. the most disturbing element in this book is how fetishy it is. also as a story this just sucked. one star for the cover only everything else is garbage and I don't even want to have this in my read list but I just want to give it one star.
At long last I read everyone's favourite classic and to be very honest this didn't live up to my expectations eventhough I enjoyed some parts of it. This felt like a very long essay about all of Oscar Wilde's ideas with some plot and punchlines sprinkled here and there which got very tiring to read at times even though some of his ideas were interesting. Also everything was waaay too convenient for Dorian which was probably the point but it was just underwhelming sometimes. overall; great concept, some parts were pretty fun to read, didn't like the constant philosophical info dumping.
