It felt rushed. Should have added more depth to characters.

Very nostalgic. Challenges your moral compass.

The ending could have been better.

Information was pretty much common knowledge. Could've been easily summarised in a two-minute conversation.

It was mid. I already knew everything. Majority of things were common sense.

I understand that this book isn't a stand a lone, and is part of the series. But to me, it just seems like Stephenie Meyers is trying to milk the Twilight series as much as possible. I wish Meyer could use this opportunity instead to delve deep into other characters in this series, for example Alice or Rosalie. This book, in my opinion, is written better than the original. But as I have already read the original, it was hard for me to latch onto the book as I already know the main plot. The ending didn't satisfy me, but that's more my personal opinion than the authors skill. Beau and Edythe's relationship is extremely obsessive and co-dependent. They seem to idolise each other as perfect beings that are incapable of flaw. Of course, not every romance, fantasy book HAS to have a healthy relationship, but I just wanted to point that out in case anyone is looking to read a nice, non-toxic romantic relationship. I really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who's read the series, as it pertains nothing new to the plot, and it's a struggle to read sometimes as I always view the genderbend characters as their original ones. Now that I think about it, I probably wouldn't also recommend this book to readers who haven't read the series before, as there is a scene when Edythe talks about the Volturi in a way that the author expects the reader to know what she's talking about, which was confusing, even to me! In conclusion, if Stephenie Meyer REALLY wants to continue milking off of the Twilight series, I'd advise her to stop making shitty remakes of the original and instead take opportunity of the characters that already have amazing backstories and thrive off of that.

Made me gasp out for air sometimes. Especially the poems about immigration and motherhood.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 8%.
Very boring, couldn't seem to latch on. For a murder mystery book, it seemed like there wasn't any murder at all. It was also written like it was meant for children.
