Figured out the twist less than 20% in. Kept waiting for another one but sadly it didn’t arrive. Ugh.
Funny Story by Emily Henry

I have finally read my favorite Emily Henry book. I enjoyed her previous work - I read them all and clearly asked for more. My biggest issue was that the conflict in her earlier books was way too small for the size of the feelings that her characters had experienced as a result. That often left me rolling my eyes and holding my appreciation for the characters in my hands like a traveler without appropriate luggage.

Emily Henry has established herself as a master of rom-coms. Her signature blend of wit, relatable characters, and swoon-worthy romance  shined in "Funny Story."

The premise is intriguing - a jilted bride thrown together with her fiancé's best friend's ex in a small-town setting? Cue hijinks, witty banter, and unexpected connections waiting to blossom. Add in Henry's talent for crafting humorous yet heartfelt characters, and "Funny Story" is a laugh-out-loud rom-com delight.

The library, small town, and small place setting of it all made this book incredibly cozy. Reading during a snowstorm made it a perfect setting.

Thank you to Berkley for my ARC. This one is a gem.
Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler

Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler is a cute summer romance novel that explores the challenges of long-distance relationships. As a reader, I particularly enjoyed the book's Jewish representation and the choose your own adventure ending. Additionally, as a fan of Adler's previous works, such as Homefield Advantage, I appreciated the callback to her earlier book.

However, while the book had its strengths, I found myself struggling to connect with the characters. I found them to be somewhat flat and underdeveloped, which made it challenging to become invested in their journey. In fact, I considered not finishing the book multiple times.

Despite my issues with the characters, I still found Going Bicoastal to be an enjoyable summer read. The story is light and fun, and the Jewish representation and choose your own adventure ending add an extra layer of interest. Overall, if you're looking for a cute summer romance, this book might be worth picking up.

How can we all know the same amount of words but some authors have this magic ability to take the words and place them in a way that make your brain light up when you are reading. As you might have guessed: the writing is very expertly descriptive. However, as excited as I was about reading this one - it didn’t suck me in. It is a dedication to those who we lost to AIDS. And for that I will treasure it.
The Maid by Nita Prose

Thank you so much to the publisher for my ARC!

The Maid. I really wanted to read this ahead of the movie production. And jumping ahead, I think Florence Pugh is perfect casting for Molly!

Molly reminded me a lot of Eleanor Oliphant: honest, different, wonderful.

I enjoyed the book - I loved the story and the twist - but to me, it felt a bit anticlimactic simply due to pacing. I think The Maid is a marvelous novel as a puzzle that was not put together entirely correctly. Regardless, I think it will translate flawlessly to the screen and I cannot wait!

Gave me extra Outer Banks vibes! Great read for summer for sure: full of heart!
Book Lovers by Emily Henry

I have read Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation, and now Book Lovers. I believe this is Emily's best work yet.

The bookish references and quotes alone are atmospheric, making the book a total bookish aesthetic. I wouldn't say I connected with characters but instead loved the book world itself—what a gem.

As a true 4w3 and a lover of suffering, a part of me wanted the book to end on 'I am Heathcliff.'  I wanted that suffering. But I also understand this is a romance novel, and HEA has its charm. And charming it was!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me access to this Advanced Reader Copy :)

I am not a fan of medium-pace novels. That said: I freaking LOVED this one.

I knew it. I knew it from the moment I saw the cover that this is going to be a gem - it had to be! I am so happy it did not disappoint. With fully-fledged characters, I am so prepared for this one to become a classic. It is so delightfully gay, gorgeous, and just great. I can't wait for the world to read it.

THANK YOU for letting me read this ahead of the release <3

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my ARC ♥️

She did it again. Was it a bit more solemn than the first one? Yes. But it was also written during a pandemic so I can’t blame the author one bit. The setup for book 3? Undeniable. And I can’t wait.

It will be worth your wait and anticipation.
