This book was groveling and kidnap attempts… like the whole time. I did really like it. I loved how crazy JJ and Finn are honestly. My favorites for sure. I wish we had more background on why we hate Orions brother. Also why Dom was obsessed with Lilah. I also just don’t get the obsession like he wanted her but treated her like shit? I just don’t understand that. And then how did he keep getting away with the submarine pod thing? That wasn’t really clear…

I have read this book 3 times and the only thing that really bugs me is the fact that we read a chapter and then the next one will be the same events just one of the guys. It’s frustrating bc the chapters are so long and it’s like… I don’t need to relive ALL the details again

I liked it but it was honestly getting annoying how back and forth everything was. Like in her head and then with malum. It was confusing at times lol

Eh it was okay. It was mostly smut and a little repetitive actually a lot repetitive. I started skimming around 75% in. I was just a little over the same thing happening. He stalks her she enjoys it and gives in super easy even though she has issues with opening up to me? Idk seemed like that wasn’t the case. Also the whole brother thing was a bit strange to me can’t lie.

There are typos and not much smut. The groveling wasn’t really there and I wish we could have seen her more full force using her powers knowing who her dad was. Also fuck her mom and love the mayor

Not time for a review have to start book 2. I really enjoyed this book. I wish we could have gotten more answers in book 1 though.

Okay I have read some of the other reviews and I can understand why people would be against continuing due to the whole scene where he betrays her (in a truly horrible way). I came into the book knowing about that scene so I was somewhat prepared for it. I will say that being ~50% into Book 2 you learn a lot about what happened to her in her past, which was something that I wanted to know. Darius was still a giant dumbass until that moment and thought that she really was a manipulative person who just lied and controlled everyone (like the giant dumbass he is). Also I am having a difficult time accepting him now that they are back together (like in the same place not like dating or anything) because he is just very pushy with is ways (also not 100% his fault because of the instincts of the fantasy elements just irritating).

I think people need to realize it isn't just two people who were interested in each other.... they have a fucking link due to magic... like the shit is so not real. They can't just fight something that easily, it is not in their control.

It would have been 4.5-5 but I really hate that no questions were answered through the literal whole book. Like I feel like I’m reading half thoughts the whole time and it’s giving me a headache. I know it’s a series and we will get answers but Jesus fuck gives us something ya know. Sure the end gives like crumb but it’s still a backed up with a load of what the fuck.

Update: 85% into book 2. Lots of questions have been answered (of course there still are some). Regretting starting with the last 2 books not out yet

Loved it but literally no shot these characters are 26+ lol

It’s also very clearly based on the bonds that tie series… I love that series so I enjoyed it but I know a lot of people don’t like that so just a heads up.
