So… I tried reading the fifth edition novella and I was so bored. I just couldn’t do it! THIS book was actually great; I enjoyed the characters and I didn’t find them to be annoying OR insufferable, contrary to other people’s opinion. Although, if we are speaking about the little novella, it was so not good… I had to DNF it because it just wasn’t necessary. I felt like with common sense I was able to decipher his emotions in the OG book without the extra added things at the end (especially since he only thought about her sexually like… LADY BONER GONEEEEE). Anyway, this was a dramatic book and it had all the things I expected to find while going into it! This author is 2/2 in terms of books I’ve read and enjoyed by her so I will def be picking up another book by this author!! (If we ignore the novella 😁)

This is a soft DNF! I will be back for this book, but I am not in the mood for this right now… I think Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow has thrown me into a book slump (let’s hope not)

Wow! I had to sit with this book for a moment to determine my rating. I’m still going between my ratings, so don’t be shocked if this somehow bumps up in rating (or bumps down). I ate this book up super quickly and I loved it, but there were some things that I didn’t like (which isn’t a bad thing no book is perfect…) It definitely had a pacing issue at some points, the ending was unsatisfying, the conversation about the creative process for making a game was SUPERRRR interesting as a gal who LOVED watching gamers, and I have so many more opinions but I’ll discuss it further in the— aforementioned— wrapup!! Super strong book that made me feel incredibly confident in picking up other literary fiction, third person POV books in the future!

I just want to say that I love reading indie authors books, especially when there is POC in the novels (and written by a POC); however, I think the book felt too Tiktok-y for me. It felt like it was trying to cater to the audience rather than the author writing a book she genuinely wanted to write. I mean— who knows? I may try out another book from this author because I can see the vision but it just felt like this was a book that was supposed to be under the “As Seen on TikTok” category, rather than a “This is just a great friends to lovers, best friends brother book.” If that makes any sense. IM SO SORRY TO THIS AUTHOR
