Our Secret Moments by Janisha Boswell

I just want to say that I love reading indie authors books, especially when there is POC in the novels (and written by a POC); however, I think the book felt too Tiktok-y for me. It felt like it was trying to cater to the audience rather than the author writing a book she genuinely wanted to write. I mean— who knows? I may try out another book from this author because I can see the vision but it just felt like this was a book that was supposed to be under the “As Seen on TikTok” category, rather than a “This is just a great friends to lovers, best friends brother book.” If that makes any sense. IM SO SORRY TO THIS AUTHOR

Wow! I’ve read Beach Read and I didn’t really enjoy it and then I tried to read Book Lovers (it didn’t work out), yet I couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe this was going to be the book for me. AND BOY OH BOY WAS I RIGHT!!! I should’ve read this book sooner. It felt like Emily Henry put all of my thoughts into a book and said “deal with it” 😀 CRIMINAL! I had a couple issues with the book… nothing crazy though! I felt there were a couple repetitive parts and sometimes the dialogue sounded SOOOO out of character it was too cartoonish if that makes sense (it’s an issue I had with Beach Read as well) long story short… I loved this book so much and it was a beautiful story I think I left a piece of my heart in between the pages to be honest
p.s. I am NOT a second chance girl (I actually try to avoid it if I can) and I ate this book up so yeah… do with that what you will 😋💗

Super fast omg like crazy fast! Why did I not hate Adam… I felt like he was finally starting to have some ambition and priorities be built. What do you mean “should my allegiance lie with James or Juliette” BABE THERE IS A CLEAR ANSWER HERE!! Maybe I’m crazy or there were chapters missing from my book but I read that so fast AND I didn’t think Adam was bad (he’s not BADD he’s just BORING)

Solid 4 ⭐️ book! I loved Aaron (unpopular opinion… for the first book at least); I could tell he was just in a silly goofy mood! Adam had me bored to tears whenever he was on the page I don’t know how I’m going to manage the novella + UNRAVEL ME!? Crazy! 😆 Kenji ate. James ate. Juliette ate- but she was a little too dramatic but honestly ARENT WE ALL? I’ll cut her some slack… it’s just Adam that made me not give A damn (see what I did there 😉) ANWAYS TO THE SALON (aka the kindle store, so I can buy the novella 😍)

Literally no hate to Deanna Gray but her books are so boring… I was skimming this and it was only the first 10% I cannot imagine the rest of this book. I would try out another book if this wasn’t the second time I was yawning trying to read her books. Again no hate to the author, I can understand why people would enjoy this book, however, the writing style just isn’t for me. There is BIPOC rep, so period!!
