Like usual, she writes in a way that you cannot put the book down until you find out who is the murderer. Loved it!
It was a good book to know more about Scottish history, to understand their struggle more. Well written but a bit too short on the important historical characters well known around the world. But all in all I recommend it as a start up book.
Very funny, very insightful into who Matthew is. I recommend the audiobook while actually reading the book. Matthew himself reads it and makes it even more interesting.
It is quite inspiring and makes you think about life and the choices you make, he is no expert and he may have made better choices in life or encountered better opportunities, but we are all the same in the end. He makes you question your "feeling of self", what makes you, you.
I really enjoyed it and I would say it did inspire to take a look into what are the greenlights and red lights in my life and what I can learn from them.

As with every book in the chronicles, more questions are answered. Now we have been introduced to a new character, a new ancient vampire and now I want to read more about him. The story of Marius of course is now complete and it is wonderful and yet bittersweet. I must say that this book of the chronicles goes up in the list of my favorites, along with the vampire Lestat and queen of the damned.
It was extremely hard to follow. I am sure it is a literary achievement, but honestly I didn't see the hype, the story is actually quite average, but the wording around each sentence that is said or thought makes it 10 times more difficult to understand. It is not a book to enjoy reading, it is a book to do research or look for symbolism in how he tells the story. I do not recommend reading it unless you have to for a school project. I did it as a challenge and didn't enjoy any part of it. But it's done!
What I love the most about how Isabel Allende tells her stories, is how easy they are to read and follow. You are immersed with the character, you are one. This is just the second book I read of hers and it is a page turner. Can't wait to keep reading her tales.
I think my favorite part was the English used, the words of Anglo-Saxon, the poetry style and the very detailed descriptions. Some of the stories were very interesting and with a nice moral. Unfortunately some others were unfinished and didn't even get to a climax. I am not sure why they published the book with the stories incomplete. I am very glad for the notes in the back of the book, with the explanations and a little history lesson along the stories told. I do recommend it as a language lover and as a person trying to understand how deities and religion shaped different cultures and eras in humanity, how relationships, women and men were viewed and how hierarchy in society played a very important role.
I found this book by accident in one of those free libraries in a park, and I must say I loved it. It was a witty murder-mystery story, with some Indian cultural background, which I found very interesting, and easy to follow characters. It was really nice to read and got me hooked as soon as I opened it. I believe I will be reading more books by this author.
What a rollercoaster! Absolutely loved it, from funny to extremely hard, to downright thriller! Cannot recommend this book enough. Just great!
