I enjoyed the book, I particularly liked how the mixed religion and witchcraft (which a lot of people probably won't/didn't). But I thought it made sense, since I do not think of religion as black and white as they indoctrinate us in catechism school. I would say it was a beatiful love story in the end but I would have wanted more. All in all is not a book for everyone, especially if you are not willing to keep an open mind.
Unfuck Your Brain: Using Science to Get Over Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Freak-Outs, and Triggers
Great book, it doesn't matter if you feel that you are ok and your life is great or you think Is great; this book will make you understand so many things about how you react, how you feel or simply help you be a better friend or a better person to someone that is going through a hard time. I really really recommend it. As the writer says, you don't have to follow everything, just what works for you. I can't wait to put these things in practice.
Absolutely brilliant! A whole new side to God and the Devil, even though Lestat was more of a side character I loved it so much because it made me ask questions about my own faith and the state of the world. Absolutely amazing!
It was OK. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I knew more than three names of the famous people he was mentioning and then would have gotten the jokes. Entertaining at some points repetitive at others... Not really my style, but it helped me passed the time.
It was quite interesting to see how in the times of Jane Eyre it was terrible to have an opinion as a woman, to question things, to demand respect and basic rights.
Between doing the right thing and the right thing in the eyes of religion is where this novel touches a crucial point, at the beginning it seems it's against religion and its strict rules, but towards the middle it seems religion takes a higher meaning for her and she bases her decisions on it, also with a hint to the supernatural in between.
All in all it is about love and how society sees this love, no matter the age difference, background or in the end physical attributes or lack thereof.
It's a story of a strong young woman that was made harder by the upbringing she had and it touches a bit on the personal side with me, so I particularly enjoyed it and I am definitely glad I got to read it now instead of in high school, because it makes a world of difference on how I see the meaning of it now than how I would have, being younger.

It started a bit chaotic without following any timeline. But once you understand how the writer goes back and forth from event to dates you realize why the time line he follows best is the events throughout the history of Portugal. It was a very interesting book just because of how rich the history of Portugal is in comparison with other European countries. I would have liked more details in certain cases but the title says it is a VERY SHORT history of Portugal. All in all it was a good book to start.
It was so interesting to see Armand's life when it all began, the art, the fashion, the luxury and then how it all crumbled down to almost a vagabond underneath the earth. It was hard and still is to understand how he sees the world and his beliefs or faith. He believes in God but yet he has no faith. It made me question my own belief, it touches on very intimate and deep thoughts about humanity and religion. As always a great book with a sort of happy ending.
To date, this is a very complete and organized book on history of the world. It is of course short and concise which is kind of the opposite you would want in a history book, but that is what makes the book great. It mentions names and important people that were kept out of other books of history. I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it after you have read other history books about the world, it is a great complement but by all means not the only you should read. I believe when it comes to history, the more different perspectives and books from each country's history you read, the more you will have a sort of an all around image, that of course will never be completely clear, but at least you will know more of what makes this world a terrible and wonderful place at the same time.
It was a very interesting love story and at the same time a revenge story. At some point you even feel sad for the villain. You even ask yourself who was truly the villain? I like the book because you were constantly changing perspectives and siding with different characters. It was a bit hard to read at some points, especially when Joseph was speaking in his very broken English and written in the exact way as he spoke. None the less I enjoyed the sort of happy ending.
Although outdated from 2007, some of the things they predicted would happen in 2030 have already happened now by 2023. It was very depressing to read such a book an realize that nothing has changed, but people ARE more aware and are fighting for the future and for the climate... It just leaves me with a feeling that we might have waited too long.
