Perhaps I have read too many of the “Rogues with Brogues” genre of romance, but this one felt a little too trope-filled:

-Healer with uncanny abilities (almost as if she’s getting clues from a writer in the future!) = check
-Laird who has sworn off love but immediately falls for the healer’s beauty and intelligence? or whatever… = check
-Tender loss of virginity = check (style points for having them actually get married first)
-Loose tresses = check, minus points for being historically inaccurate
-Bathing scenes = see above
-Jealous cows = check, style points for the witchcraft accusations
-Running off away from the castle to greet her family despite warnings of danger only to immediately come into said danger = check
-Getting kidnapped multiple times and then her supposedly super-overprotective brother deciding he’s okay with it because True Love.

The first half felt slow to me, and I was like, oh let me guess, his wee bairns have celiac disease and she will put them on oats and then they will be healed for a bit and then someone will sneak them some wheat so everyone thinks that they are sick again = check.

With so many historical inaccuracies I am almost tempted to file this under “fantasy” instead of “historical romance.”

One part in here is super accurate though: a toddler running around asking you repeatedly to “watch me” as they run back and forth. 😆
