Deception by Andrew Bryson

There was just something about the synopsis that drew me to the book and I must say I’m so happy that I picked this one! The level of detail is such that I felt that I was in Russia! I really loved Andrew’s conclusion to each chapter as it really kept me engaged and eager to know what would happen next. This book is fast paced and a wonderful thriller! I can’t believe that this is Andrew’s first book and I look forward to reading his books.

The House of Twelve by Sean Davies

The premise of The House of Twelve had me hooked and I was willing to take a chance on an element of horror. Initially, I felt a bit overwhelmed as multiple characters are introduced at one go. With the rules being the foundation of the book, it is hard to know them. However, the puzzle pieces throughout the story were very well written to keep me engaged. The ending did get me and it was certainly full circle.

Cupid F*cks Up by Paula Houseman

Paula Houseman's Cupid F*cks Up is a refreshing and authentic book. The sassometer is through the roof and there were multiple instances where I had to put my iPad down to just laugh. Ruth Roth has become one of my favourite protagonists and a sass idol for me. She is truly herself though her journey to reach this stage has not been easy. There were moments where I felt like I was cutting onions to moments of insight where I could hear the choir sing "Hallelujah". This is truly a tragicomedy book filled with laughs all the way!

My Abigail by David Duane Kummer

David's words of thanking his teachers, friends and family brought a smile to my face. But that smile was quickly wiped off and it was replaced with curiosity and intrigue as I wanted to know Abigail's secret. I was not ready when the puzzle pieces came together and the subsequent events that followed. It has the right amount of twists and turns and the pacing allows you to get to know each character.
I found it very hard to put this book down and though I found peace with the ending, it did leave an element of sadness and numbness.

Sound of a Furious Sky by H.N. Wake

H.N Wake's Sound of a Furious Sky is a gripping thriller. Dom Walker is a force to be reckoned with and love that she is such a strong character. Her honesty, tenacity and vulnerability is wonderfully layered in this page-turner. I really loved H.N Wake's writing style and the different parallels of the story really complement each other. I cannot wait to read more of Dom Walker.
