The Moment Between by Gareth J. Frank

"The Moment Between" is more than a thriller. It is thought provoking and beautifully written. This book takes a reader on a journey on a subject that has long held the curiosity of human beings, life and death. The character evolution of Doctor Hackett is so authentic and raw. The main plot of the story flows so well with the other happenings of other characters such as Sarah, Ella Mae, Aaron and Yu Lai Wang. In the end, I felt that I was well acquainted with every character and could understand their minds.

"No, death was permanent because time became immaterial. All experiences lived side by side. In death, the moment lasted forever." And my brainwaves paused to process these words and I am still processing it.

The first book has really got my attention. Holly has really introduced the characters well and the pages help you understand the mindset of both Cleo and Harris. Nothing appears what it seems to be and I cannot wait to read the second book and see the development of this story!

Skin and Thoughts is heartfelt book that gives an insight into emotions and the ups and downs of life. Amanda has a way to draw you in with her poetry and the drawing just complement the flow of the established tone. I really loved the introduction and the waves of emotion I felt every time I turned the page!

Balancing Act by Danica Dawn

Balancing Act is a wonderful balance of humour, romance, family and suspense. It is a refreshing debut novel by Danica Dawn and I couldn’t put the book down. I really loved the fiery Desi Valdez and Danica’s writing is such that by the end of the book, you will know the heart and soul of Desi. I also loved how relatable she truly is. I started this book with a smile and ended it with a giggle!

The Secret Life of Lords by Elf Ahearn

"The Secret Life of Lords" is a delightful read! I usually do not read Regency novels but I am so glad I came across this book. The attention to detail by Elf really deports you back in time and the lead characters, Lady Claire Albright and Viscount Flavian Monroe are beautifully written. The character development is wonderful as pages give you an insight on how Claire becomes more courageous and sheds light on her strength and determination. Flavian gives me Edward Rochester vibes who is plagued by his own inner demons but is so sincere although stubborn. The supporting characters really complement the overall plot of this book.
I was drawn into this rollercoaster of longing, pain, hope and love and I sure did enjoy the ride.

Organized to Kill by Jan Christensen

Though this is the fourth book in the Tina Tale Series, it is my first and can be read as a stand-alone book. Jan is such a thorough writer and it was a wonderful story that can be compared to an intricate maze. Tina and Hank are certainly the A-team and the supporting characters run very well with the main plot. Every chapter was engaging and a delight as one can gain clarity over each person involved in this mystery.

Beneath Pale Water by Thalia Henry

"Beneath Pale Water" is an intricate read that sheds light on the mindset by Luke (vagrant), Delia (sculptor) and Jane (model) against the backdrop of beautiful landscapes of New Zealand. This is certainly a visual treat and I felt that I was transported to the South Island.

Thalia Henry has really developed memorable characters along with the supporting characters of Helen (Delia's mother) and Alfred (Luke's father). They really complement the overall plot centred around a sense of belonging and identity and it is interesting to gain a parental perspective. I took a bit of time to get into the writing style of the author but I was engaged and couldn't wait to unearth what would happen. It is an unconventional book that presents a realistic overview on grief and reliving the past.

Ms. Medicine by Olivia Arquette

I surprised myself when I instantly clicked the "Request free review copy of this book" via VoraciousReadersOnly link upon reading the premise of Olivia Arquette's "Ms. Medicine". I really admire Olivia's courage of taking the concept pharmaceutical sales, one which is usually associated with disdain and contempt and creating this fantastic book. Olivia's experience in the pharmaceutical sales/marketing really makes this such an authentic and insightful read.

Caprice Bello is certainly in the running for being one of my favourite characters. She is unapologetically herself, witty, determined and strong. Her inner monologues perfectly capture her essence and was a delight to read. Every character in the book (including Hendrix and Mr. Jiggers) is so memorable and each one of them contributed to the overall Giggle-o-Meter. I ended this book with a big smile on my face and my Kindle is shell shocked with the amount of highlights made. I cannot wait to read more from Olivia.

The Extra by Janci Patterson, Megan Walker

Refreshing, heartfelt and fun are the three words that I would describe Megan Walker & Janci Patterson's "The Extra". Though the main plot is centred around the ever so dramatic and hilarious Passion Medical, "The Extra" takes you on a journey of self-discovery and relationships. Gabby Mays has so much of heart and is a memorable character. She really owns her journey and is authentically herself. The parallels and the integration of past memories and events are written so seamlessly that I instantly loved the pace of the book. I look forward to reading the series and reacquainting myself with memorable characters such as Anna-Marie and Felix.

Hitchin' by Alexandra Christle

Danielle Fine's illustration of Hitchin' really caught my eye and that was long before I knew that I would literally identify with that cover as I turned the pages of this gripping, intense and beautifully layered crime thriller of a book. Alexandra Christle's experiences really reflect in her writing as these past few days I have been living in East St. Louis between the years of 1975 and 1979. Anthony Scarlotti is truly an enigma, a contradiction and oh so memorable. Cassandra Phillips can be compared to the Wonder Woman: The Journalist Edition and she is so authentic and driven. Everett Jackson Hayes is a successful man haunted by his own insecurities and makes him relatable. The bromance between Steve Banik and Bob Myeson provide the much needed humour during the tense, Jesucristo encounters with the Mob. The last few chapters had me on edge and the plot comes around full circle. The bittersweet ending tugged my heart strings like a harp gone rogue but in the heart of heart it was such a satisfying read. I am ready to roll the red carpet to Alexandra Christle and I cannot wait to read more of her work.
