Big lesson: Don't be doing things you will regret.

This was so interconnected and convoluted that I'm not sure anyone actually knew what was happening. Through a series of completely independent acts, an entire family nearly got ripped apart.

It was something else reading as each new piece was revealed. Like if this one person had not been exactly where they were at this exact time, then none of the cascading incidents would have occurred at all.

I need to read more books by Amy Jo Burns just to see if they are all like that.

Society and family are everything. So for boys like Yadriel, being kept out because of something he had no control over, it could be absolutely imperative that he finds a way to ingratiate himself.

I loved his idea to prove himself. He just bit off more than he could chew. It wasn't his fault that the item he'd thought belonged to his cousin didn't. How was he to know what was really going on.

I loved how he was fighting two different wars. One to be accepted as who he was, and the other to be a brujo in his family. The twist at the end wasn't anything I saw coming and I'm glad Yad worked through it and got everything he wanted.

I loved how the story is told almost in pieces. The poor is on the outside. Too indigenous to be white and too white to be indigenous, but she doesn't let that stop her from being part of her tribe. I could have done without the whole mystery plot there, and just focused on her becoming part of the tribe. I understand why it was there though. I am greatly looking forward to Warrior Girl Unearthed now.

I only picked this up because I had watched the movie, and I was actually mildly disappointed. I hadn't realized it was a book of short stories, which I don't normally read. Mostly they were okay. The Black Phone itself was boring in reality, I far prefer the movie. I don't think there was a single story in it that I actually liked.

Overall the writing style wasn't bad, and I did enjoy the ideas behind them, but I didn't spend enough time with each group of characters to get invested.

I don't know what to say about. There was a lot that I will take away and a lot that I will be leaving behind. It's an informative book on how to strengthen your own psychic abilities. I liked it (and the author is really nice).

This book was....Definitely something. How can anyone be that obsessed that they can create this entire alternate universe where things are completely different than in the real world? It would not surprise me of she ended up getting a restraining order placed against her. The girl lost her mind.

I picked the whole series up on a whim at a library sale (intending to read it them, then pass them on to my dad) and I was not disappointed. This book is set over multiple countries following a "cleaner", someone who cleans up whatever happens in the CIA. He finds out something he wasn't supposed to know and it forces him to make some interesting decisions. I enjoyed the novel and cannot wait to get to the next one.
