This was another sloooooooowwwww torturous burn from Zapata! I really enjoyed the backstory of our two MCs. But I felt like there wasn’t enough closure with the family drama and the best friend’s story.
I also really struggled with how little the MMC spoke at the beginning. I know that’s part of his character ARC but still I didn’t like him much at the beginning.
Overall it was a sweet romance!

Finished Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera! I was so excited to read this thriller! I knew there were podcast interviews involved so listening to this on audio was a must! Our main character’s best friend was murdered and everyone in her small Texas town thinks she did it! There was never any evidence to convict anyone of the murder and our MC moves to LA. Fast forward five years, and some random true crime podcast thinks they can solve this cold case! This is a classic whodunit story and I never guessed the ending! Mix in some drama and scandals and you have yourself a great time! I highly recommend this for your next audio read!
Your next five star read…. Trust me!
Seven Days in June - Tia Williams
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“And maybe that was what real, adult love was. Being fearless enough to hold each other close no matter how catastrophic the world became. Loving each other with enough ferocity to quell the fears of the past.”
This book has become the new standard against which all other contemporary rom-coms will be measured against. Okay, I’m being dramatic but seriously guys. This story!! I laughed out loud and I had my little heart squished. As with most books, I recommend going in a little blind. I never read the blurb for this one I just knew I had heard great things. Do go into it knowing there are very mature, adult themes – to name a few: generational trauma, motherhood, female friendships, addiction, abuse, and chronic illness. Overall, it’s an incredibly compelling story on Black love, joy, humor, and second chances!

I have come to the realization that I can 100% guarantee I will LOVE whatever Ali puts out! Hands down! She is an auto-buy, auto-read author for me. She can do no wrong, and I WILL die on this hill.
As usual Ali’s signature quirky, STEMinist humor shines through in every paragraph. This time we have a software engineer Vampire and an alpha, architect werewolf. Do I need to say more?? The first 50% we really get to see this world built and characters fleshed out. About the 50% mark things really heat up

I just wanted to feel something again after the void that the poppy war trilogy has left me
