I’m will be the first to say that you guys were all right. Okay. I was wrong, there I said it. Because previously if you caught by reviews for Book 1 and 2 in the Throne of Glass series you will know that I gave them four stars. And I went into Heir of Fire (book 3) with very low expectations. But let me be the first to tell you just how good this book was. The hype is all too real! I don’t even know how to explain how I feel about this book let alone what the book was about without spoilers. But gosh let me try.

Our story picks up after the events of book 2, and Celaena is sent on a mission by the evil King of Adarlan on a far off continent. Finally, we leave the glass castle and are introduced to a whole bunch of new creatures and places. There is a huge focus on Celaena dealing with her grief, and depression. We learn so much about her backstory and her motivations. We are introduced to major new characters, the magic system is further developed, and bigger puzzle pieces of the evil king’s master plan are revealed. At first the different POVs were confusing but once I got in the groove of the story it felt easier to switch between the storylines. And I even found myself loving each one! I finally feel like everything we learned in book 1-2 is paying off because the emotional impact this story had on me was unmatched! I felt so deeply for each of our characters and the action scenes had me on the edge of my seat! Of course, literally, the last 20 pages of this book shattered my heart and left on such a huge cliffhanger. I need the next book now and CANNOT wait to see what happens next!

The blurb for this ya psychological suspense novel basically tells you nothing about this story but it won a Goodreads Choice Award in 2014 so I was very interested! So this story is narrated in first person by Cadence Sinclair and she recounts the summers her very wealthy family spent on a private island off of Massachusetts. The mystery begins right away because Cadence suffers from migraines and partial amnesia from an accident one summer but we the reader are trying to figure out along with her what happened that summer and why her family is lying to her. This was such a good read with a captivating writing style, commentary on privilege, scenes of young love, a propelling mystery, and a shocking ending!

P.S. I also had the audio for this one and confirm it’s a perfect narration!

I wanted to like this - because the premise of this story was so magical. I know people say that they don't like instant love, but I think it is pretty magical. This one is hard to enjoy though because these two main characters feel instant love and then our MMC ends up dating her best friend! Yikes! And the whole time they are pining for one another. So, it's like forbidden love right, which I can get behind. But because they are trying not to cross that line they stay as friends for the majority of the book. And the author tries to establish this long connection and history of friendship with all the time jumps. I think it spans like a decade or something. But we actually get very few scenes of their friendship or connection! So, by the time we get to the big scene in end I'm like wait how are you still in love when you barely interacted in this book?? I don't know I actually enjoyed the writing, but I needed more from these two as to why they are meant to be.

A review for this one is really hard without spoiling book 1 and 2! I'll just say that I loved that we still have Elias/Helene/Laia's POV (plus one extra POV I won't spoil). I found that Helene's POV was my favorite! She is such a fascinating character! Her motivations, and internal monologue are so fascinating! She frustrates me and yet I completely root for her at the same time! That is what I love most about this series! Just when I think I know the character's motivations another new layer is added that makes it so interesting! This book was centered around more fighting, blood, and battles! We finally get some knowledge of the history that set everything into motion and that ending......... when we got to the last part in the book, I was crying actual tears! My emotions were a wreck! For real I don't see how we get a HEA in book 4. As I type this, I'm getting a sinking feeling in my gut!! Can't wait to read book 4!
