Fantastic world building and in universe lore.
Unfortunately the main character was too 'One Dimensional', it didn't feel like he overcame anything, he was just like a video game character leveling up and chugging on though the story.

Was this nessassary? Not at all.
But was it good anyway? Ehh, not so much.
