I'm always down for a retelling as long as you know the story of the source material and unfortunately, this time I did not know the story of Dr. Jekyll and Hyde. I also thought the amount of times they brought up the ruby in her throat was a little bit too much. I don't know if that has to do with the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde but either way it wasn't really my thing

First off the title in itself is a huge spoiler lol

That being said this book was so fucking confusing.
The first half of the book you think Madison did everything then in the second half the author says sorry sike. Vienna's actually delusional and not only has she done everything in the story but she's a serial killer.

The whole Libby thing threw me for a loop too.

However, the biggest what the fuck moment for me was when they talked about exsuming her grandmother's body because they suspect Vienna killed her too. all I could think of was why the fuck would she kill her grandma. She was the only person who loved her.

This would have been cute because I liked the others but I’m a 9-1-1 fan and Eddie’s sisters name is Sofia in that show. So unfortunately that’s all I could think about as I attempted to read this

I loved how the main character was completely fine with all the hauntings adapting herself to them even becoming friends with some of them. However, I absolutely hated the daughter. She was supposed to be 30 years old, but he acting like a five-year-old. You haven't seen or really talked to your parents in years because you're obsessed with your girlfriend and then when she dumped your ass, you become obsessed with finding your missing father previously not giving a shit despite him being an alcoholic Even going as far as to break into his office and all of his drawers to find clues which is a complete invasion of privacy. But my absolute nope of this book was the daughter blatantly saying the password to her parents bank account in front of people. Like I get they are police officers, but you don't know if they're dirty and could possibly steal all your parents money. The girl was a complete fucking idiot.

Just another girl complaining about someone else’s happiness. If you have to literally say that you’re a grown up, you might not be

I honestly skimmed most of this.

1. This felt like two different books smashed together.

2. Why lie and ruin someone’s reputation on their first day at a new job because you don’t want to explain a misunderstanding to your brother?

I’m all for trauma representation but every single character doesn’t need a traumatic background

I loved the first book. I’m pretty sure it’s a six star read for me but they have just gotten progressively worse from there
