Beautiful. Lyrical. The whole book flowed like poetry and I found myself writing down entire passages just so I can savor them again and again.
This is something I would reread regularly just so I can taste it again.

Falls apart a little at the very very end. But really overall super enjoyable.

Really interesting for the first 2/3, the whole plot falls apart towards the end. Wildly unbelievable things happen that are badly explained if at all, as if the author tried to wrap it all up in a fever dream. A shame because the beginning had promise.

Worth doing as an audiobook. The narration pushed it from a 3.5 to a 4.5 for me.

Very enjoyable. Some of the info is since outdated (understandably) but it was a great narrative journey through the anthrax terror attacks of the early aughts and the eradication of smallpox as well as semi-modern research into smallpox as a biological weapon.

I really enjoy Preston’s style. I felt like I really got to know the doctors and scientists.
