This was my Kindle First choice for June, and I picked up the audible edition a month later when it was released. I knew I'd eventually read it, but I didn't have a specific time frame in mind. That is, until I saw it was a choice on the YA Debut Author tour. I asked to feature this one, not expecting to actually get it. I was quite excited when I opened my email and saw my name next to it on the schedule.

Anyway, I had this on whispersync so I could follow along with it while he was driving. This meant I could totally read ahead a bit and pretend like I totally expected things that were going to happen. Also, I'm apparently annoying as hell to listen to an audiobook with, because I loudly commentate on things. ...little does he know, I do the exact same thing when I read the books. I just usually do that under my breath or in a room by myself. I am an emotional reader!

I noticed many of my friends have this marked on their TBR list on goodreads and to them I say, QUIT WASTING TIME AND ACTUALLY READ THIS ONE! HOLY FLUFF BALLS, GUYS! As soon as I finished it, I started heckling Maribel. "Have you read it yet?" and "Are you done yet?" and "Hurry up, gawd flabbit! I want to discuss it with someone!"

One thing I absolutely enjoyed about this story was how much of it I honestly did not expect. I'm used to having some idea of what is going to happen, but I was taken off guard so many times - which made things even more emotional for me.

It is REALLY hard to put into words how I felt about this book without stepping in to spoiler territory. Just know, you should read it. Now. And then send me a message and fangirl over it with me, because it was awesome. My gawd. When does the second book come out? I need that in my life yesterday.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have been meaning to read Penny Reid for a long time, two years at least. But I kept putting it off. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!

Not even 2% into this book I knew I was going to love it. And I really did.

I had a busy weekend, so I wasn't able to read much, but I picked it up every second I could. Usually late at night. I didn't get much sleep. I have also learned if I'm really tired while laughing, I gargle.

This is one of the best stories I've read in a long time. If I could go back in time, I would smack myself for waiting this long to read one of her books. I'm now in possession of all of her published books available on Amazon, as I have learned from my mistake.

Highly recommended. Don't read it in places where you're supposed to be solemn or quiet. I learned that the hard way. You'll get angry looks.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'll be honest, I got halfway through this book and stopped reading it for a while. Not because it wasn't good, because holy crap balls this book is hilarious. It's also well written and I loved the characters. Even Bartholomew. I had some things occur, and I put it on hold. I didn't want that to affect my view, so I put it off.

Finally, I decided to suck it up and finish it. I started the book over. ...I can't believe I ever put it down in the first place.

This book is freaking hilarious. I was SNORTING in public. At one point there was Dr Pepper coming out of my nose.

There's also a ton of action and a good deal of drama. One thing to note is that it's definately more of a mature YA read.

Absolutely loved the ending. It was perfect and fantastic. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

I suggest you pick this one up immediately and read it, because it was freaking ... gah! I highlighted so many parts!

Outlier: Rebellion by Daryl Banner

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Having read both Beautiful Dead and Dead of Winter, I already knew I liked Daryl's writing. I just was iffy about starting another series by him. I didn't want to have high expectations and end up disappointed.

The first chapter made me worried, I was afraid the entire book was going to be written like that - and I didn't much like it. Then the next chapter happened, and I realized it is a story told by multiple characters from their point of views. Also, I really ended up liking the character from the first chapter.

Things happen, there's lots of drama, and there was many a time I had to close my kindle just to shout out an expletive.

The best part was when I was all, "Don't mind me, I'm just sobbing in the car pool lane at the spawn's school because Daryl broke my feels..."

How long until the next book is released, because I don't know how long I can wait before I have to start a riot.

No Interest In Love by Cassie Mae

First of all, I'm already a fan of Cassie Mae, so I was excited when this book was released.

One thing that needs to be pointed out, there's a lot of references to the show How I Met Your Mother. I have never seen it, so I didn't understand any of those bits.

The story itself was amusing, and I laughed a lot. There were a few times I clinched my chest because my heart was hurting. Mostly though, it felt a little too cheesy. I'm not saying I disliked Jace and Shay because they were adorable. It just felt a bit too forced.

Sadly to say, I was disappointed within the first bit of the book. Finding out the female love interest is Korean, but the girl on the cover is absolutely not any flavor of Asian was upsetting. I recognize that this is the fault of Random House, and I was offended they would white wash the cover. That they would do this to an author I'm quite fond of felt like a betrayal to me.

One thing I really did like was how the subject of Jace's dyslexia was handled. It's a topic that I don't feel is addressed enough, and I think it was awesome of Cassie Mae to show how someone can succeed even with those struggles. I was also impressed with how Shay approached it.

There's a character in here, Milo, he's awesome. I kinda wished there was more about him. He's probably my favorite.

All and all, the story was cute and I did enjoy it. I disliked the cover choice, because Random House is lying to the potential readers. And I thought the characters were pretty darn spiffy.

***3.5***

The beginning was pretty interesting. I found myself quickly immersed into word, wondering what was going on. I definitely said a few choice words at certain bits... out loud... in public.

But, I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. In many ways, I really liked it. I thought the setting was awesome, the issues the protagonists were dealing with were fascinating, and the list goes on. But I also found much of it to be dull, and this was one of the few instances in which I rolled my eyes at the romance going on in the book.

One thing I did like how I could easily just close my ebook when I'd lose interest and let Philip Battley read the story to me. It's rare that I find a male narrator who can do a female without making them sound like a drag queen.

The first half was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed it... and then there's the second half. It's not bad., but it's just not as entertaining.

I'm interested in continuing on with the series but it isn't a priority for me.
Bright Side by Kim Holden

The ebook was purchased for me, because Mel Shank secretly enjoys making me suffer.

I did get the audio deal for this one, but it didn't have whispersync. I'd keep the audio going as I read it though, because I couldn't stop reading for trivialities such as doing laundry, making my kid food, or driving. (Don't read and drive!)

I've heard this is a tear jerker, so I was reluctant about reading it until I was feeling more masochistic. For a while I'm thinking, "Okay... I can see why people love this book, but how is it a tear jerker?" ...and then I got to THE PART. I was a goner for pretty much the rest of the book. I had to drink lots of water to re-hydrate myself.

Another benefit to the audio was, after I got to THE PART I couldn't really read, because my eyes were too blurry, thanks to all of the tears. So I just listened to it being read to me as I wallowed.

There's a great cast of characters, all important to the story. I never felt like any of them were just tossed in. Each of them could have had their own story, that's how awesome they were.

I had high expectations. This book surpassed them. It was nothing I expected, and I really loved it. Highly recommended.

There's a sequel. I plan on eventually reading it, but I'm a little scared that it'll break me or it won't live up to this book. We shall see.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The idea of the story is pretty cool, and I did enjoy finding out about the Lucents. It's an interesting concept.

But that's really where my enjoyment ended. It was hard to motivate myself to keep reading. It would be okay for a bit, and every now and again I would become immersed for a chapter or so... but then it would get too wordy or stop making sense.

I kinda liked Theo. That's the closest I got to connecting with a character. And I tried, a lot. It took me a month to finish this book, because I was struggling through it.

There will be other books in this series, but I won't be continuing it.
