What Lies Between Us by Nayomi Munaweera

Reminiscent of works by writers such as Toni Morrison and Alice Walker. This book grabbed ahold of me from the first page and still hasn't let me go. This riveting novel is so very emotional following a young girl into adulthood all the while unraveling the effect childhood trauma and family secrets can have up into adulthood. .

Nice light read. I received this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not familiar with any of the three authors of this novella but I was excited to to get three short stories in one
Amazing Gracie started off a bit dry as we met the characters and got their stories but the ending was so worth it. Love a happy ending and the read was very easy.
Meant to be was cute and possibly one of my favorites since I could relate to the character Cory in my feelings for my husband. Again a light hearted read.
Mother's Day Crown was entertaining and those cheeky older ladies made the story come to life. I was a bit annoyed with Monica's character but not enough that it ruined the story or made me want to stop reading.
These three stories are as light and delightful as the book's cover. I would recommend this to a friend that is looking for a light and easy read that won't bog them down infact the opposite it will make them smile with little confusion or moments that require indepth discussions.

Sometimes I Trip On How Happy We Could Be by Nichole Perkins

I snagged this book because my book club ladies recommended it. I enjoyed how it was read and the essays not every essay some were just annoying and the order of them threw me off a bit. But I will say this booked touched on a little bit of everything some stories were relatable others either made me cringe, eyeroll or scoff. For me it was a scattered conversation filled with a lot of over sharing with someone I wasn't close to. Not terrible but not my cup of tea. I wouldn't recommend this read to friends but I would be open to discuss with them if they read it and wanted to talk through it.

It was alright, it didn't wow me but I did enjoy the twists and turns. Once part 2 started I eye rolled through it and I think I was hoping the worse for the blonde main character, she annoyed me the entire book.

DNF...or rather could not finish. I am not going to bash this book or author but I will say I do not think that I am the target audience for this read, so I will gracefully bow out.
