Happy Place by Emily Henry
3.0
3.5, closer to a 3 than a 4. This was hard to rate, like other Henry's. Generally, I loved her writing style for a majority of it and the relationship was interesting to see. The relationship between Harry and her friends was even more interesting, and i'm glad she took time to explore this throughout the book instead of it relying solely on the couple to carry this book.
Of Note:
- Not a fan of how reliant the plot was on Wyn in the beginning. It felt like the only thing that mattered about Harry was her ex, but i'm glad it drifted off that towards the end.
- The drama between the main three friends saved this for me. I was so invested in their blow up, and this extends to her parents as well.
- Some of the lines felt so out of place, like they were too "quirky banter," especially during and close to the sex scenes and generally, whenever Harry and Wyn were together.
Sll in all, another Emily Henry classic. I gave it a 3+, but I don't regret reading this at all.

Something about this guy...
Something about this book makes it feel like it was supposed to be really good but I can't justify rating it higher than it is. A lot of the choices were really weird, like putting in 2 different slurs, even if they kinda made sense in context. The premise is pretty cliche but I felt that he still made it fun to read instead of hashed out. All in all, I'd recommend this as like a "finish in a day" filler book.
Things I Liked:
- I liked her relationship with Jay, it was cute.
- The scene where Ashley dies was hilarious. "Am I immortal?" *Dies of headshot wound*
Things I Didn't:
- Darby dying was insane, Darby surviving was ridiculous and came out of nowhere
- MCU dialogue, especially with scenes regarding Ashley
- The villains got cartoonishly evil, and also it's implied Lars was the bad guy because he was ugly??

When I was younger I spoiled the big twist to my friend because I assumed it was well known. Anyway, fun story.

Addiction is a very tough topic to write about and he does it like the easiest thing in the world. This is a beautiful work of writing that pulls you in; if you’re able to put this down it would only be to gather your thoughts before digging back in. Incredible stuff in here, really sets itself apart from its predecessor.

The Adventures of Eovaai by Eliza Fowler Haywood

Almost completely incomprehensible, but what I did understand I did enjoy. I would’ve thought Eovaai would have more of a role in the story, though.
Memoirs of Fanny Hill by John Cleland

Very explicit, which is good. Very dull, which is bad.
I'm left feeling completely unchanged, but it at least entertained me enough to finish.

Down the Drain by Julia Fox

The entire time I listened to this all I could think of is how awful her entire has been and also what the statute of limitations is on all the crime. Great read.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

Was not expecting to like her as a character as much as I did. I think the book shines when there aren't any romantic interests present.
