‘you don’t know what’s going on inside of someone, really. there’s a hidden universe in there...full of secret stars.’

Gerard Way said in the afterword that this comic book is something to be experienced rather than reviewed, which is exactly why i didn’t give it a star rating. it’s such a brilliant feeling when you read something that feels totally and completely catered to you, as if a team of people came together and said ‘Let’s make something for [insert name here]’

the characters are odd balls, strange and wild. Casey Brinke is such a fun, cool and completely crazy character. she goes along with this random group of people because she knows it’s the right thing to do. she’s trying to figure out her past while navigating her future and she shines so bright while doing it.

her partner, Sam, is the type of friend you need. he goes along with your ideas while saying ‘hey, you know this is completely crazy right? but i’m doing this because you’re my friend and i love you.’

but not only was the writing amazing, but the art was too. it was so gorgeous, the characters were alive in my hands and the colouring? my god, i was blown away every time i turned the page.

i’m so excited to get the next volume.
