Solidly cute. I think I would have devoured this when I was younger.

This one was kind of meandering. Didn't have a specific through plot for the arc.

I picked this up hoping for a fun easy popcorn read. While it was fun and fast and full of action, it was significantly deeper than I was expecting. Activism and social justice and women in stem. I had so much fun with this book.

First, my little story. I was so convinced I started this book years ago and was astounded by the buzz. However, I've since learned that I am wrong, this is not the book I started. I'd really like to figure out what that book was.

That has nothing to do with this review.

As for the actual book, I have shied away from High Fantasy in recent years. I've felt like nothing really new is being done and it's all longer than it needs to be. I was so pleasantly surprised by Priory. It's long yes, but it never felt like wasted time or words. There's action and mystery. There's romance and humor. The characters are deep and flawed. Shannon put deep thought into all of the religions of all the cultures visited.

To pick on game of thrones for a minute, there were characters that we'd get to a chapter following them and I'd groan and hope someone better was next. I thought Niclays Roos was a jerk and was just as deeply enthralled in all the chapters following him as Ead or Tané. Ead was my favorite. I could gush longer but I'll save some of this for my book club.

This has been the coziest of the Wayward Children novels as there was less adventuring and more existing. Still the ending made me a little sad. I cannot wait to see Nadya pop up in later books.

And I thought book one was unexpected. As soon as I think I have a handle on this story and what to expect, BLAMO, I'm sent reeling in a different direction. I really hope there's less time between books 2 and 3 than there was between 1 and 2.

Cute and interesting. Beautiful art work. Has the feel of a real piece of folklore passed down for many generations until such time as Susanna Clarke got a translation on paper.

This is the 4th book I've read by Becky Chambers. I think she must be a lovely human being.

This is a beautiful conversation on what it means to be a person. Your thoughts. Your experiences. Your purpose in life.

Chambers makes me warm and cozy and often makes me want to curl up in bed and have a good cry.
