Fate of the Sun King by Nisha J. Tuli

Thank you so much, Forever Publishing and NetGalley, for this ARC.
I read this a while ago, and I'm still reeling! I needed to take a breather before I actually wrote the review. I was literally screaming and crying, and I couldn't believe that cliffhanger. I had to read it a couple of times to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. The author really did us dirty there (in a very good way, or was it good?).
This series just keeps getting better and better! There wasn't a single dull moment. The new secrets revealed made the story so much deeper, and I was totally shocked.
Nadir, oh Nadir. How is he becoming hotter with each book???? I canβt get enough of him!!!
November is way too far away. I wish I could just zoom into the future like The Flash and read the next book right now.

Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

This audiobook was incredible! If you're into dark romance or looking for an introduction to the genre but want something funny and not too heavy, give this a try. It's hilarious, cute, and a bit dark, but in a fun way.
I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw the trigger warnings, especially the "not-so-accidental cannibalism" part. I thought, "What the heck?" But it turned out to be pretty darn good. And no, I'm not weird. Trust me, it's funny.
Rowan and Sloane are a super cute couple, even though they're serial killers who kill other serial killers. Their witty banter, badass personalities, and vulnerability are off the charts.
Here are a few reasons why you should read it:
β‘ You like annual murder competitions (yep, you read that right).
β‘ You like friends-to-lovers dark romantic comedies.
β‘ You like "touch her/him & π" vibes.
β‘ You like "he falls first and hard."
P.S.: Beware, this is still a dark romance, so please read at your own discretion.

I picked up this audiobook, and it took me a while to get into it. But once I did, I was hooked! I went in without knowing much about the plot, and I was wondering if it was going to be about politics, court intrigue, or romance. Turns out, it was mostly about romance. I would have liked a bit more clarity, plot development, and an actual role for the dragons, but I loved the main characters, Talasyn and Alaric, so much that I'm not going to rate it lower for that. It's one of the better romantasies I've read in a while, and I'm excited to see where the story goes.
Here are a few reasons why you should read it:
β‘ You like badass main characters.
β‘ You like political intrigue.
β‘ You like slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers stories.
β‘ You like arranged marriage/marriage of convenience.
β‘ You like "he falls first, and hard."

Lore by Alexandra Bracken

So, I needed a standalone fantasy, and this was my first time reading a book inspired by Greek mythology. It was a bit confusing at first, but I ended up really liking it. You know how Greek Gods are always portrayed as violent beings? This story definitely shows that. The idea of Agon was really interesting, and it kept me wanting to read more. The pacing was good, and I never felt like anything was missing.
I loved Lore. She's fierce, damaged, and has a kind soul. I wish Castor had his own point of view, though, because there was so much to his story. But all the characters were really well-developed and complex.
Here are my reasons why you should read this:
β‘ You like unique take on Greek mythology.
β‘ You like deadly competitions.
β‘ You like adventure.
β‘ You like found family.
β‘ You like second chances.

You've got to read this book, if you haven't already. ππππ
I was hooked from the dedication to the very end. It's hilarious, heartwarming, lighthearted, adorable, steamy, emotional, heartbreaking, and gut-wrenching all at the same time. It's got everything!
The characters feel so real, it's like they're jumping off the page. Both main characters are dealing with depression and their own past traumas, and they're both so emotionally vulnerable that you can't help but feel for them.
Dahlia and Julian's relationship is written so beautifully. It made me feel all the feels, and I couldn't put the book down. I loved the big, happy, close-knit family vibes. Their moms are so cute!
I could gush about this book all day, but I don't want to spoil it for you.
So, here are a few reasons why you should read it:
β‘ You like childhood rivals to friends to strangers to lovers.
β‘ You like second-chance romance.
β‘ You like characters with great chemistry.
β‘ You like mental health representation.
β‘ You like character growth.
Trust me, you won't regret it!

Cozy? Check.
Fairytale retelling? Check.
This captivating sapphic historical tale offers a delightful blend of intrigue, slow-burning romance, and an immersive setting. You will be transported into a world of yearning, Gothic ambiance, and Celtic folklore, specifically a retelling of the Selkie Wife legend. The gradual development of the friends-to-lovers relationship adds depth and emotional resonance to the narrative.
While there may be moments of slower pacing, the satisfying conclusion more than compensates for any perceived lull. The overall effect is one of heartwarming positivity and contentment, leaving readers with a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Thank you, Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley, for this ARC.

The Off Season by Amber Cowie

The Off Season is a thrilling and suspenseful destination thriller that will keep you captivated from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed the remote Canadian setting, surrounded by a river and with limited contact with the outside world, and the sense of isolation created by being stuck in an empty hotel during a raging storm.
The characters are so skillfully crafted that you will find yourself questioning everyone's motives at some point in the narrative. The intricate plot twists, the captivating mystery, and the persistent feeling that you must discern the true victim and villain of the story will keep you engrossed until the wee hours of the morning. Sharing this reading experience with my friend is a cherished memory.
Thank you, Simon and Schuster and Amber Cowie, for my Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Sins on Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin

The plot was intriguing. Certain things touched my heart. You should read it if you like dark Jewish queen fantasies with mutual pining, post-war consequences, mental health rep, found family, lovers to enemies, friends to lovers, demon-hunting goats. This tale has all this and much more.
I urge everyone to please check the trigger warnings carefully for this book. It is a dark fantasy with deep trauma and healing.
Another thing I'd say is that this is the first time I read an abuser's POV, and that was interesting.
One of my favorite quotes has to be:
"If I die first,"
"I'll tell you the secrets of heaven."
