The Vampire's Game by Marnie Vinge

Blair and Cash are back. This time they're teaming up to solve the recent murders. They're desperate to find out if the killer is human, or something else.
Just when you think this series can't get any better, Marnie comes out with another hit and proves you wrong. The tension had me on the edge of my seat, and it wasn't just the tension from the murders. Oh no, it was the tension between Blair and Cash. The constant will they, won't they, while you're yelling at them to just bloody tell each other how they feel. I was getting closer to the end of the book, fully preparing to be angry with Marnie again. But then, she finally gives us what we want. I could weep right now. But Marnie, Marnie, Marnie. Right at the end? Really? For shame 😂
Anyhoo, enough about that. If you're a fan of all things spooky and paranormal, pick up this series right now. Because it's amazing and there is more to come.
Can't wait for book 4.

When You Disappeared by John Marrs

When Catherine wakes up alone one morning, she assumes her husband Simon has gone for a run and to work. But when she realises he never made it to work, and never came home, she starts to worry. She fears the worst, but the longer he is missing, the more people think he's walked away from her and their children. She knows he wouldn’t just walk away. Right?
I hate Simon. I hate Simon. I hate Simon. That is all.
Aargh. I've read books where I liked the killers more than Simon. He was a coward, he was selfish, and he turned himself into a victim in his own mind. I kept reading thinking surely at some point, the reason he left will be revealed and it will make me understand him and why he left. In fact, I was hoping for it. But, fuck me sideways. When the big reveal happened, it made me hate him even more. And then the hits just kept on coming. More was revealed and it just made it so much worse.
This was a great read, slightly frustrating at times, but yeah, I hate Simon.
Also TW - mentions of child loss and the scene is described. Had me crying my eyes out purely for the fact that next week is the anniversary of my son passing. So please be aware x

Mia and her family are desperate. Her niece Grace has been diagnosed with a life threatening condition, and they need to raise money to send her to USA for treatment. While her family are fundraising, Mia finds herself listening to her flatmate and turning to crime. Only what was meant to be a simple case of blackmail, turned into murder and conspiracy. Now Grace isn’t the only one at risk of losing her life.
Yet another 5 star read from this author. This was one of her best and I flew through it in under three hours. I couldn’t put it down. A book filled with twists that had me crying by the end. Reading this on the anniversary of my nans death probably wasn't the best idea because now I'm an emotional wreck 😅

This was a very short story that gives us a little background of Cash, his dad and how he came to work with Graham Graves. It was awesome getting a little more insight into Cash, but I wanted more. It was too short, Marnie! I hope we get some more of these little stories because I need to know everything about everyone.

Amanda is living the dream. A year ago she was working in a bakery when handsome Timothy walked in and whisked her off her feet. Now they are married with a newborn daughter, living on an exclusive island right next door to Timothy's parents. Parents who do not approve of his new wife.
But Amanda knows this life can be taken away as quickly as she got it, thanks to the secrets she is keeping. And someone knows what she's hiding...
I have to admit, the first half of this was so much better than the second half. The suspense and Amanda's slow descent into paranoia was really written well and had me captivated.
The second half, finding out who was stalking Amanda and why, was great. But the whole ending left me feeling frustrated. Especially the whole confrontation with Timothy. It left me wanting to smack him and his entire family.
Overall, a great read.

When a mother finds out her husband has been hurting their daughter, she decides to take justice into her own hands.
This was a quick read, only just over 50 pages. But boy, it went hard. If you've ever watched The Human Centipede movies, this is basically that but with peadophiles. It was sick, it was brutal, and it was awesome. Please please make sure you read the TWs for this one. Also check out the awesome playlist at the beginning. Some of my favourite songs on there and honestly they fit the vibe of this book so well.

After a 999 call from a nine year old girl, police race to the house to find her close to unconsciousness while her mother is dead in the kitchen. Only when the womans husband arrives, he tells them this girl is not his daughter. Now police need to find out who this girl is and where the daughter is. But as always, the body count is rising.
Once again, a great read. The authors writing has definitely improved over the course of the series and each story has me fully invested. So much so that I hope a fifth book is in the works. I look forward to reading more from this author.

A house has gone up in flames. A husband, wife and their two young sons perished. As if that isn't bad enough, someone recorded it and uploaded it to YouTube. Then a woman is killed on the balcony of her home. When that video is also uploaded, Tanzy and Byrd realise the cases are connected and find themselves trying to find any link between the victims, hoping to stop the killer before he strikes next.
Once again, an improvement on the last couple books in the series. The author has shown me some murders that I've never come across in any other book before, and I love that each death scene is unique. Super excited to start book 4 now.

Anna and her young son are walking through the park when they find a body. The body is her teenage son Mark. The police come and once again Byrd and Tanzy are on the case. They soon discover that Mark was involved with some bad people. Now the body count is rising and children are disappearing. Its their job to find out if and how this is connected, and who is behind it all.
The first book in this series was good, but there was just something about it that stopped it being great. This one was better. Its like the author really got into their rhythm this time around. The writing was better, the story was better and we got better insight into each of the characters. I'm really enjoying this series so far and looking forward to starting book three.

Ian is on the phone to his wife as shes driving home with their young son, when she says someone is stopping her from driving any further. He listens as someone gets in her car and kidnaps the two of them. He races to find them with no luck. Arriving back home he finds his wife dead in the kitchen.
Before long, another woman is murdered, followed by another. And the detectives are desperate to find out what the connection between these women are. Before the killer strikes again.
This was a difficult one for me to review. The story was great, the writing wasn’t, the execution wasn’t. But I kinda really liked it anyway. At times it was so good. At others, it seemed to get a little lost along the way. It was definitely a good start to this series and I'm looking forward to reading the second book.
