Be very careful to have a support network if at all possible when you read this. It is phenomenal, and can be brutal to read when you're struggling.

There were a lot of great essays in here, although I do wish that there were more aggressive integrations of the two theories. Many felt like they were borrowing from Queer theory rather than really embracing it. I think it could have gone further.

This book was very surreal and at times disorienting in a very magical way. It's largely told as the train of thought of the main character, and I struggled a little with that isolation however I think it reflects the main character in a way that made it more immersive.

It's a pretty rote fantasy romp and a staple from my childhood. Great fun and a long series.

It's definitely written to explain what's happening to people who are already on board with Butler's other work, and it's pretty helpful to that end and needed now. It's a comparatively easy read for Butler.
