much better than the first book in terms of pacing and emotional depth. sadie remains the superior kane and i love the addition of bes. i hope the final book double down in terms of action/thrills.

it was a fun, light read. took me a while to get into the story and when i was really enjoying it, it ended so soon. i can see why people are comparing the book to the help. def would recommend if you want a story that's very relevant right now.

took me a while to finish this one, but it wrapped up the kanes' story nicely. sadie is still one of my favorite characters rick riordan has written, and carter surprisingly grew on me here.

a pretty solid debut novel about women trying to make it in a world that's against them, and finding kinship with each other. went in expecting it to be a k-drama sort-of like story, but it reads more like a contemporary/realistic drama mini-series. i found miho's story the most enrapturing, and i feel like wonna's story could've been fleshed out more because sujin (a side character) had more presence than her.
overall i really enjoyed the story for what it is!

a really interesting read, one with such beautiful prose. i liked addie larue as a character, her perspective in life and how she deals with her curse. i have to say though that the middle part of the book seemed repetitive, especially with the flashbacks to addie's encounters with luc. but overall i more than liked this book, and I'm curious to see how v.e. schwab's other books compare to this one.

a really quick read, the plot really just engrosses you from start to finish. the twins were by far the most interesting characters of the novel, how they dealt with identity and race. excited to see this adapted into a mini-series, and curious to see who they'll cast in the roles.

biggest takeaway from this book: SO MUCH BETTER than the mortal instruments. i stopped reading the first series after the fourth book (city of fallen angels) because the plot got boring and i really didn't like the incest story arc in the first three books. but clockwork angel more than made up for TMI, especially in the last hundred pages of the book. it did take me a while to get really invested in the story but overall the writing and the characters were nice, and I'm starting to root for jem for tessa (though i know they won't end up together!).

really loved how this isn't the typical YA fantasy story, with all its nuances and lore and characterizations. the last 50 pages were GRIPPING. excited to read the sequel!

darius the great is okay. and he's going to be. i'm so glad the author, adib khorram, decided that there's more to darius's story. and i love how the duology showed us not just before and after darius's iran trip, but also his journey in both countries. the first one was loads more emotional for me (i cried hard during the ending), but this one is still sweet and heartwarming.
