a good anthology of horror stories related to film, some of which were really creepy and unnerving. here's a list of the stories that really stood out to me:
drunk physics by kelley armstrong
exhalation #10 by ac wise
scream queen by nathan ballingrud
snuff in six scenes by richard kadrey
lords of the matinee by stephen graham jones
a ben evans film by josh malerman
cut frame by gemma files
many mouths to make a meal by garth nix
garth nix's story was more of fantasy thriller, but which i'd really love to see expanded into a one-off novel or series because of its lore and characters. some of the stories though were either bland, confusing, or just really slow. all in all would love to read more stories like these!

reading the first book years later, the story still holds up pretty well. excited to finally go through all the books in the series, and then hopefully trials of apollo.

as good as the first book! titan's curse really moved the plot forward and added more emotional weight to the story. as usual, rick riordan really knows how to create and introduce memorable characters (zoe, the di angelo siblings, rachel, blackjack) and while a couple of them didn't make it to the book's end, i do hope we see them again in the final two books.

heartbreaking and complex, took me a while to finish this one cuz it was so hard to read about vanessa's abuse. made me really think about how so many things have enabled and been complicit to the abuse women go through.
tw: sexual abuse, rape

took me a while to get into it, but it's ultimately heartbreaking and enlightening. it's so amazing how chanel got into detail about her assault, the duration of the trial, and the aftermath of it all. i'm so angry and frustrated with how the system just belittles this kind of cases.
i was also glad that chanel acknowledged her privilege in pushing her truth, the only truth, to the court because not many can do that, especially when thinking about the victims here in the philippines where we have a poorer and (probably) more corrupt justice system.
must-read and an instant favorite!
