The only reason Toxic Relationship is not in the Graphic category is because the author did not intentionally write this to be seen as anything other than a jealous, over-protective man who gets all of his red flags explained away with
'HE WAS POSSESSED' but not even that, he was only possessed for one chapter (7/292 pages) at the very end of the book
. The rest of the book in which he was short with the main character and mad at her and refusing to communicate (leaving town and refusing to pick up her calls - also texts and emails exist???) that was not an issue.
If you must remind your readers at every turn that yes he does in fact love her because she knows he loves her with no actual evidence of his love, then perhaps he is not a good love interest.
Also I did not want to hear about her drizzling chocolate sauce on him as often as I did.
Terrible read would not recommend.

This book can be hysterical at times, for example his entire skincare routine, him flexing at a lady doing his facial and thinking that it looks casual bc his eyes are closed, and every music-themed chapter.
And then it'll hit you with a chapter so violent and misogynistic and violating that you wish you never picked it up re: every single chapter titled 'Girls'.
Thank you to my friend who loaned me this book as it is a banned book where I live and cannot be bought, borrowed from a library, or shipped into the state due to its contents (which... I kinda get now.. but also STOP BANNING BOOKS!), thanks, and I hate it.

But it was also really good ?????

i wish the confession had been a bit more intimate instead of like β€˜they have to incase they're killed by right wingers!’ pretty good overall tho
i hope this is the start of more mainstream gay rep in dystopic/apocalyptic books

Kvothe is so Autistic, it's wonderful.

characters who I think are queer:
Bast
Simmons
Probably Kvothe
The Eolian owners, I thought they were hubbies at first

I want to give Kvothe a hug, this poor man has had such a hard time, his retirement plan didn't even work out the way he hoped.

as Patrick Rothfuss has said, the writing can be a tad juvenile at times but it does work since Kvothe is a child throughout this whole book, of course he'd freak out at being in close proximity with a girl.

I like Denna, I don't have much to say about her but I like her.

I've been trying to find a 2000's romance novel that is as trashy and funny as 'Tall Dark and Fangsome', this was not that book.
Most of the humour relies on slut-shaming, Diet Culture, Internalised Misogyny etc.
That aside, the book was very easy and quick to read and the mystery – though predictable – was fun.
I would catagorize this under 'unlikable main character'.

I would say my favourite character was the morally grey tabloid reporter
who she *gasp* accidentally kisses!!
