i honestly don’t really know what was going on half the time. not a particularly good book, and lots of melodrama, but overall okay.

as a short story and continuation, it served its purpose, but i’m not as jazzed about it.

first off: gorgeous. from the beginning, i was hooked (and also deeply depressed by the corporate brainwashing). it is a love story, yes, but not just romantic. linus learns to love unconditionally, to love himself, to love others with great fervor. it’s about children and adults and all the messy things that happen.

rainbow rowell’s obvious fetishizing of mlm to write her books is unsurprising, given her history of writing minorities inaccurately and inappropriately. there were three plots stuffed into this book, the relationship was fudged and had no buildup, the characters were messy at best, and the plot was frustratingly unoriginal.

okay so. this book is a bit rushed, but overall i loved it IMMENSELY! if you’re looking for a story about sapphic “enemies” to friends to lovers, i definitely definitely recommend this. it’s very sweet.

it initially seemed pointless and dumb, but i stuck with it and that was such a good decision. if you’re looking for some family love, this is definitely good. a tear-jerker, too, for me!

I don’t like horror. I think I ought to have realised this by now, but Cthulu called and I answered. Lovecraft is terribly racist, but his stories are quite interesting. Not bad, just creepy.
