Everything about this psychological thriller from the writing style to the plot to the characters is extremely intriguing. That twist when you realise that you've been somewhat tricked and strung along as a reader? INSANELY GOOD. What I enjoyed most about this haunting book was how the author displayed the duality of human experiences - that people (characters) are complex and complicit. Within one exists the capability of good and bad, victim and villain, of causing pleasure and pain, helper and harmer. A must-read if eerie reads are up your alley.

Yaa Gyasi is a stellar writer. I enjoyed this format of storytelling where the the protagonist is more focused on exploring long-held and developing questions of religion and science.
