If you’re having a book hangover from reading the MindF*ck series, READ THIS BOOK. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
I can’t remember if this was recommended by BookTok or KU but either way, it absolutely scratches the itch that MindF*ck leaves you in. Spice is 6/5, story/plot 5/5, darkness 4/5. It does get murdery but it could have been more gruesome. Not a requirement but I was expecting it to be a little scarier.
I think the circumstances that brought them together was a little cheesy but it doesn’t last long and it sets up the rest of the book well. There’s some angst but it’s really not needed as the characters are both outspoken and not shy. I would not call this a “cute” romance - it’s gritty and very realistic. The banter between Fletcher and Eli is fantastic. All I will say is “taco blocker”.

The banter. The spice, the eventual angst. Age gap was OK - not grossly large but enough to make it a little forbidden.
