All polyamorous angst, no plot. The angst was gooooood though. Still, I was expecting more from this book. It definitely was not as good as Dowry of Blood. This felt more like a fun “popcorn” book, not a book that changes your life.

This is the closest a book has ever gotten to terrifying me. Since it is told in short stories, obviously there are some that hit me more than others. The stories that terrified me might not terrify someone else, but there’s enough here for everyone. Obviously check triggers. You can skip a story here and there if they are “too much” and the whole story will still make sense. This was a well written book but I did not enjoy reading it.

I picked this up after I really enjoyed We Sold Our Souls. While I didn’t like this one as much, it was still really good. I loved the premise, and the pacing was perfect (if a little tense, which it should be!)

I didn’t love
that Stephanie ended up being a “monster” but I do think the last chapter of the book ended nicely for all the characters I cared about.

I am going to keep reading Hendrix’s work because I enjoy their writing style. I just think We Sold Our Souls is still top for me!

This book was well written, but I did not enjoy reading it. The world was so incredibly in depth, that it felt like reading a (pretty dry) textbook.

This book was so much more developed and better written than Reid’s debut novel, and I’m glad I gave her another shot. The story was entrancing and creepy. I don’t think I would call it “horror” as others had, but definitely very dark fantasy. I love that it read like a folktale. I didn’t find it as gross as others had, but everyone has their triggers. If you know there are things you don’t want to read about, check the triggers first.

I liked the aunts in this book, but Meddy was insufferable. I feel like the author was trying too hard ti make the book “funny” that it just completely missed every mark for me. The humor is so dated (very Gen X/elder millennial humor) that this book already feels old and out of touch, despite it only being 3 years old. The opposite of timeless.

It’s really weird to read a “smutty” book that focuses on virginity so much. I think this is what I THOUGHT Twilight was like when I was a teenager. Overall not bad, but ain’t no way I’m reading the other books.

Fun, ironically lighthearted collection of short stories. Based on the reviews I thought it would be funnier, but it was a nice break between heavy books.
