So many twists and turns. The amount of times I got chills and my heart dropped. I'm in love with Wendy's writing!

2.5 highest 3 stars....I had so much hope for this book. I loved the concept but in my opinion it was not executed properly. I honestly could not even describe this book and I just finished it about 3 seconds ago. I loved the magic element and the monsters, the " forbidden" love aspect. I just wished there was more, it felt like it was missing something.

At this point in the book (around the 150 mark) there is no difference in the tone, or distinction between how Adrian or Isolde talk or their thoughts.

In my review for the first book, I wanted more of Adrian's point of view. There have been a couple of chapters but again no distinction between his thought and tone and Isoldes.
Adrian and Isoldes fights are only a short period before the start having sex. I really don't want to say it but it is just toxic. I believe that is how their relationship is supposed to come off. I would like to see more of just the fighting and make up sex after.

I wish the fighting scenes and the magic teaching were longer. I would like more explanation and history on the magic in this realm.

I do not understand Isoldes transition into an aufhocker. I do not see this as being necessary  in the story.... I do not see the point in this change.

My only thing I want in the third book is for more of Adrian's point of view and for his voice to be heard and not get drowned out by the same vocabulary Isolde uses.

Stuck between 3-4 stars. The steamy scenes were amazing, I wanted way more detail though. I would have liked more of the political side of the kingdoms to be shown. I hope the second book ( Queen of myth and monsters.)  has more passion and more of a political view from Adrian and Isolde and the other noblesse's. Would also love to see more chapters of Adrian's point of view.

The pacing was perfect through out the book until around the 300 page mark. I would have loved if it was drawn out like the rest of the plot and didn't feel so rushed. Other than the pacing at the end and some questions I have still unanswered, I would say it lived up to my expectations. I would recommend this book to any one who loves dark magic and mystery.

I love Wizard of Oz! So when I found this book in the Book store I thought I would lose my mind. This is one of my favourite series! This book paints a totally different picture of the sweet young Dorothy we all know, love and adored over the decades. Amy is a good example of how most young teens well people in general feel trying to fit in and find their place within a huge world of confusion. The way it was written kept me engaged from the first page to the last page of the final book. I have purchased the prequels of this series and am excited to see how Dorothy became this wicked person that this story has portrayed her to be.

From the first chapter I had fallen in love with all of the characters and the story line. I have read the series at least 3 times in the past two years. It is a fun book that any one any age would love if they love a little bit of romance and a ton of magic. I love Wizard of Oz and a friend had given me this book as a gift not knowing it was a series. I read it in 4 days, any chance I had free time my nose was deep into this book. When I finished I looked up other peoples reviews on the book and found that it was part of a series. I went straight after work to purchase the second book and preordered the third book which came out in about 6 months from the time I bought the second book. I recommend this book to every one I know and I read it to my nieces and they both are in love with it. Rexi is definitely my favourite character.
