The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory

What can I say? I love anything written by Philippa Gregory. And the story of Katherine of Aragon (Catalina, Princess of Spain) is no disappointment #girlpower
The King's Curse by Philippa Gregory

The reign of Henry VIII, as told by his governess Margaret Pole (a wealthy Plantangent heir). A rich history filled with betrayal and tyranny. It was hard to read about all of Henry's actions without thinking about how mentally ill this man had to have been to behave the way he did. Once again Philippa Gregory brings history back to life and gives breath to the dead so we can visit them once again and feel what is was like to be in their presence in their time. Wonderfully written as always.

Cather & Wren will quickly suck you into their world and turn you into the ultimate Simon & Baz fangirl! I loved Cath, and especially Levi. I was rooting for these two from day one. And her fan fiction becomes very addictive very fast. A super fun read!
Orphan #8 by Kim van Alkemade

Orphaned Rachel doesn't find out the true reason for her permanent hair loss (that occurred during her childhood spent at the orphanage) until much later in life. Once she realizes who is responsible for this loss, and that it was deliberate, she has the opportunity to take revenge. Considering that the loss is now much greater than just her hair, and Rachel may very well now lose her life, does she take this opportunity to exact an eye for eye? Heartbreaking, powerful and a fast moving page turner. This book does not disappoint!

Twilight meets Harry Potter meets Brokeback Mountain. Seriously. Just read it. Super colorful characters you won't soon forget.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

I couldn't help but project the thought of my boys onto little Bruno and see them in his place. Innocent and naive. Seems like we've always been trying to protect our kids from the harsh realities of the world for generations and not much has changed in that regard. Maybe protecting them is not the answer after all. It didn't help Bruno.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

This was fascinating. I loved the authors writing style. I don't normally read non-fiction but you'd never know this was not a fiction novel the way it was written. Loved it!
The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck

So like any other book, I picked this up, started reading and learning about the characters then all of a sudden about 50 pages in I realized I was completely lost inside this book and nothing else around me existed. I'm not sure at what point this happened. Maybe right from the start? But I was engrossed into the lives of these people. While I had nothing in common with them, they were my people and I needed to keep reading. The writing is flawless. Every sentence moves you forward in the story and brings you deeper into their lives. So beautifully written. I won't ever forget these women.

Well. This book didn't do anything for me. Nothing wrong with it. I just did not connect with the characters or their predicament. I won't be reading the rest in the series.
