Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

the movie was better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
book amy is written like a complete psychopath with absolutely no reason to empathize with her?? the first like 75% of this was fine but the end falls off pretty hard in my opinion and its just kind of misogynistic too??

this just…wasn’t as good as i hoped it would be. maybe i projected my own hopes and desires on to this book before even reading it because i am someone who has struggled with disordered eating but everything just felt really shallow. i didn’t feel very emotionally connected to the main character and i couldn’t tell if i was supposed to like her or not which is valid because humans aren’t typically either “good” or “bad” but i feel like the ending was too happy for the character and it wasn’t satisfying. idk, it wasn’t terrible and i know a lot of other people love it so it might be worth a shot but it just didn’t hit the mark for me

It was....fine. I liked the characters and I cared about them and I did feel compelled to keep reading but there's very little payoff. If you like a beach read where nothing really happens then it's a good time, I just think it was overhyped as being something more profound than it was

this book read like an 8 hr long episode of it's always sunny in philadelphia. in a good way. i love a good unredeemable unlikeable character getting in to zany and incredibly problematic situations <3
