I absolutely loved this graphic novel. It hits particularly close to home because I also went on a tour of Europe in middle school with a similar program. Reading this brought up a lot of memories and reminded me of how that trip changed my life for the better. This is on the longer side of graphic novels but it's paced excellently and I'll definitely be giving this to my cousins.
I’m not usually a short stories person but I’m trying to read more outside my comfort zone. The audiobook really brings the characters to life with the ensemble cast and though the content was heavy, I enjoyed it a lot. The characters felt so real, so genuine. I also enjoyed the narration style. The author plays with point of view in a way that works and drew me into the stories further.

This was a fun read and I love the mix of English and Spanish. The plot and themes are really interesting, especially the focus on Taino ancestry. The ending left me wanting to read the next book ASAP.

I didn’t think this was going to make me cry because of how short it is but here I am BAWLING. The plot was so intriguing but what got me to finish this in a single sitting was definitely the romance. The love between these two was so beautiful.

This was so cute! I love the chemistry between the MCs and the spice was perfection. One thing you can always count on with Talia Hibbert is BANTER and I was eating that up.

This was so sweet! I love seeing Marianna build these friendships and community. The grief rep was also great and this is definitely a book I’d recommend to kids.

I buddy read this with a friend. Overall, the story is very whimsical and I really enjoyed the family feud aspect. The world building is done really well and I liked the magic system. The stakes were quite high but there’s a situation that happened that I wish would’ve been explored a lot more and I’m disappointed that there isn’t a book 2 to follow up on that. I think this could be great as a series if the author ever comes back to it.

Horror is by no means a go to genre for me, truly I usually avoid it at all costs but THIS BOOK. I buddy read it with a friend for a local book club and I could not put it down. The audiobook elevated it even more with all the bee sounds. It was so atmospheric and drew me in completely. Creepy in the best way.

This was really cute. I’m a fan of Gene Luen Yang’s work and attended an online event for this, then received a copy from the publisher. This is definitely a book I’d include in a classroom. I think it would be especially helpful for reluctant readers and I’m glad it’s being made into a series.
