This was a masterpiece from start to finish and I loved every minute of it. The story does a great job of capturing that post-high school dread of trying to figure out what you want to do with your life and making it separate from your parents. The trials, tribulations, and major fails that follow add to Ari’s story in such a real way. And the romance was super cute. Highly recommend!

This is one of those books I’ve seen floating around (pun not intended) for years now and I finally decided to pick it up when I saw it at the library a few weeks ago. At first, I didn’t know how to feel about Anya. She comes off as purposely unlikeable and her snarkiness is often mean-spirited. But as the story progressed, I enjoyed the direction things took and it all came together in a way that kept me on my toes, through to the end.

Gosh I love this series. This one wasn’t my favorite of the four (that would probably be Volume 2) but it was still a whole lot of fun. I love the references to previous issues and the recurring characters. I hope this ends up being a long running series.

This series is so much fun and I’m always surprised by just how high the stakes get.

I decided to read this because of some mess on Twitter and I’m happy I did. Sesali Bowen does a great job of incorporating her lived experience into this concept. She also reads the audiobook herself which is a major plus. It was interesting to read a feminist text that addresses sex work and non-monogamy in such a positive way. There's also some self-help elements to a few of the chapters but it doesn't overwhelm the text.

This was so wholesome! Hazel and Mari’s story is beautiful and I loved the bonus content. It’s so rare to see an older queer couple having their happy ending and the way it’s explored in this story is wonderful.

This was a fun read chock full of paranormal creatures. It definitely works for younger readers and I’ll probably recommend this to my cousins the next time we go to the library.

I’ve been putting this off because I knew I’d love it and I wanted to block out enough time to truly take it in and y’all! THIS BOOK! Absolutely wholesome, spectacular, cuteness-overload. I had to take several pauses (per story) to scream at how cute each of the couples were. This is a masterpiece and I can’t wait to see that Black joy on the big screen. I trust the Obamas to do it justice 🥹

First off, the illustrations were gorgeous! I love Milledge’s style, it’s so distinct and the detail added to landscapes and backgrounds works really well with the story. The characters were very compelling. The plot moved forward effectively and this ended up being a super quick read for me, despite the many pauses to stare at the detailed artwork.

I now understand all the hype. This is such a tragic, beautiful love story with a plot that keeps you reading till the end. I loved how fleshed out the side characters were. My personal favorite was Audrey but Cece was a close second. She was so messy in the best way!

This books deals with heavy topics without romanticizing the unhealthy parts. There are several scenes with self harm and heavy drug use, but we also get to see the characters living healthy, creative lives outside of that. Overall, I loved how everything came together and this was such a great book.
