I really like the art style, though the story feels a little plain. It’s very slice of life, which is interesting to see in this future setting. I think this could make a great animated TV show. The writers do a good job of capturing the feelings of teen hood, though I do wish there was a bit more excitement going on.

I liked most of it but I wasn’t a fan of the comics revolving around the videotape plot line. I didn’t like the art style there and the story fell flat for me personally. Overall, it was interesting seeing more of Hawkeye, though I do think the show ties things together in a much more cohesive manner than the comics.

Tw: anxiety, depression, suicide attempt, suicidal ideation

This story does a great job of portraying what it’s like to be a young teen with anxiety and depression. It’s a book that I wish existed when I was younger and I’m thankful it exists now. The way Lisa Allen Agostini tackles this topic reminds me of Sharon Draper’s Tears of a Tiger and I could see this book being used as a group read for a middle school English class. I think the writing styles works really well for readers transitioning from Middle Grade to Young Adult so I’d recommend this for ages 10-14.

I’m not into horror for the most part because I’m a total scaredy-cat but I’m a huge fan of Tiffany D. Jackson and I couldn’t let my fear stop me. And honestly, I’m glad I picked this one up. It was creepy and unsettling, but a quick read that kept me on my toes. I love the way Tiffany D. Jackson ties everything together at the end of her novels, but I wish this one had an epilogue. There was so much more I wanted to know and I hope she writes some spin offs in this world.

3.5 Stars

This is a lot more plot heavy than the previous two novels. I think the plot was pretty strong and things picked up really well in the second third but the romance wasn’t the center of this novel. I would classify this as more contemporary than romance. The conflicts were interesting and I love the focus on family, but I wish there was a little more focus on Quan’s character and I wish the romance itself was structured differently within the story. At the beginning, it felt like they were falling for one another so quickly, and in the middle it felt like I wasn’t even reading a romance novel anymore.

I’ve seen a ton of people on Tik Tok gushing over this book these past few months but I didn’t think much of it. Then I found myself in the mood for some mythology inspired romance and this book popped into my head. I started the audiobook yesterday and couldn’t stop it. This was riveting and so steamy. It was a great balance of plot and spice. I can’t wait to continue this series.

This was great. It took me a few weeks to get through because life got in the way but I finished that last half in a couple hours. I enjoyed how everything came together and the story had so much nuance to it.

I’ve been hearing about this book for a couple years now but what pushed me to finally read it was a paper I’m working on about how to incorporate anti racist teaching practices in university settings and my professor encouraged me to use this as a source. I enjoyed the overall message and tools presented in this essay collection, my only real qualm is how repetitive it got at times, especially with the questions.

This was so good! The chemistry and spice were AMAZING. Xeni and Mason were perfect together. I love it here.

I’m enjoying this series so far. The world building is great and I love the inner monologue of the MC. I’m looking forward to reading the next one.
