I think this is the first romance I have read where a lead character has a speech impediment. Reid seems closed off and overly private during post-game interviews as a captain of an NFL team, but he's actually hiding a speech impediment that he has been ashamed of his entire life and would do anything to keep secret. Dylan is a lawyer who has always been able to use words to convince people to donate to a charity she helps run. When Reid and Dylan come together to benefit her charity the sparks fly, but both of them are hiding secrets.

This is a good book with sweet characters. But it's also one of those books where the reader constantly thinks, "People! Just SPEAK to each other!!" It can be a bit frustrating at times as we watch these characters, who are so right for each other, flounder in their relationship because they won't just have a conversation.

The chemistry between Reid and Dylan is off the charts and their steamy scenes are fantastic! I loved their banter and how sweetly supportive they were with the other.

This series also has GREAT female friendships (something I always look for) and PERFECT FOR YOU had a lot of interaction with those friends.

There is so much to love about this book!

This book didn't work for me.

Really unlikable characters.
Really convoluted story line.
Really cheesy dialog.

I liked the earlier books in this series, but the later books are declining in quality.

I loved the other Kate Clayborn book I have read (Love Lettering) so I expected to really like this book too. In the end it didn't quite do it for me.

THE GOOD:
This is an Enemies To Lovers story with plenty of sweetness and a lot of fate. The apartment building that the leas characters both own a unit in is filled with well-written and hopelessly endearing side characters that we come to love.

And the ending of the HEA is so swoon-worthy and so insanely heartfelt that you will close the final cover and sigh a contented sigh.

Clayborn tackles so really good topics like grief and loss as well as healing and forgiveness. Those topics were done well and with sensitivity and truthfulness.

THE NOT-AS-GOOD:
This book was pretty sad throughout and it read as fairly heavy. I guess the way the book was marketed led me to expect a lighter read. But if you're up for a bit of am emotionally fraught romance you will likely love this one!

As I mentioned, this is an Enemies To Lovers romance, but it has no bite at all. It's very light on the usual trope staples: snarky banter, clap backs, tricks, pranks, teasing, etc. It hardly feels like it belongs in this trope. More like "Reluctant Lovers".

Overall this was a pretty GOOD read, but not a great read for me.

HOW TO FAIL AT FLIRTING seems like the title of a flirty rom-com, but you need to be aware up front that this is a fairly heavy read. I listed the triggers at the beginning of this review and we are aware of the Heroine's past domestic violence situation from the very first chapter of this book. Having said that, this book tackles those hard topics with thoughtfulness, care, and realism.

Jake and Naya are SO SWOONY! Naya is a super-smart female working in a man's world of academia. I adored her desire to always be better, to change the world for those in her sphere of influence, and putting in the hard work and dedication to help students. Jake is also crazy smart and insanely-sweet! His support and care towards Naya is seriously amazing and you will fall in love with these two, even when they make mistakes in their relationship.

The steamy scenes in this book are HOT! And the relationship between these two characters make those scenes even more meaningful.

This book is a great read and you will fall in love and come away more committed to embrace your story and fight those who have made you feel small.

Damn, this book was good.

This has ALL of the childhood Friends to Lovers goodness that I want. The shared memories that come up throughout this book from Holden and Sophie's childhood are perfection. Some funny, some sweet, always endearing. The sudden awareness of how sexy the pother has become when "grown up". The friendship that lays the basis of the romance. It's all there in LIKE YOU LOVE ME.

And this book also hits you with all of the quirky, small town charm. I loved the interactions between city boy Holden and the residents of Honey Creek. And the tie that Sophie feels to the town, its residents, and the B and B she runs is such a sweet addition to the story.

The family relationships in this story are meaningful, even when complicated and I can't wait to read the love stories of the other members of Sophie's life. Her older brother and sister are supportive and loving while also being funny and in Sophie's face. I loved their quirky interactions and finished this book wanting to know so much more about them.

Holden and Sophie had mad chemistry and the steamy scenes in this book are hotter than hot. I am ALWAYS here for kitchen counter sex. But with the steamy scenes comes a romance filled with truth, sweetness, respect, and kindness that makes this book a 5 star read.

This book had SO MANY problems that I finally gave up.

In the very first chapter we meet three, twenty-something, single girls sharing an apartment in a suburb of Boston. The lead female, Jemma, comes home from work to find the door to the apartment wide open. She is terrified that they are being robbed, yet she GOES INSIDE THE APARTMENT ALONE ANYWAY. She hears noises coming from inside and calls to her roommates with no response. so she GOES FURTHER INTO THE APARTMENT. She looks for a weapon, makes a mental joke about using a bottle of nail polish, and continues in. It turns out to not be an intruder, but a dog who got inside because one of her roommates left the door open that morning, like she often does. Not unlocked, but WIDE OPEN. When said roommate returns home she shrugs it off, saying she probably DID leave it open because she was carrying something and must have forgotten. The three girls laugh it off, "Ha! You're so forgetful, but we love you!".

But Jemma remains completely rattled by the experience she goes to a shooting range to consider getting a gun. While at the range for her very first time holding a gun/shooting a gun, she is completely alone until a hot stranger joins her to begin shooting in his own lane and she first, accidentally points the LOADED gun directly AT him and then later, gets startled and drops the gun, shooting him. Listen, I am not even remotely a "gun person". I have never been inside a shooting range. But even I know that this set up is ridiculous. NO CHANCE would a first timer be left without employee supervision and no way would any of this be able to happen.

Do I need to go on with this review? This is all in the first TWO chapters! But I kept reading. What followed was more of the same. A cop asking out the female lead while taking her official statement about the accident. A doctor introducing a patient, by name, to his girlfriend while at an official appointment she decided to "tag along" on? Hello, HPPA violation! Or how about the doctor administering a shot who makes sexually suggestive remarks while doing so? At his place of business. To a female patient.

Besides the many (and I mean MANY) story holes, the female lead is extremely immature. She cries at the drop of a hat, requires a near stranger to hug her while getting a shot, apologizes 10 times in every chapter for things she either can't control, didn't cause, or has already apologized for numerous times. She was truly a weak female.

I. JUST. COULDN'T.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest feedback. They are likely regretting this decision.

I always love Max Monroe books and HOT STUFF is another great book!

First off, hella-hot fireman? YES. PLEASE. But I love this smoking hot firefighter for more than his body. Garrett is such a great Hero. He's a wonderful dad, a great fireman, responsible, caring, and he has his shit together. I swooned when he went to the kitchen after a meal to help clean up while the other men in the story watched football. (SIDE NOTE: damn, do men ever operate under a freaking low-bar of expectations).

And Lauren is a fantastic lead female. Smart, hilarious, relatable, kind, and hardworking. I loved her strong sense of self and her longing for more. She was so wonderful.

There is also a really complex and meaningful part to this story that exists for all relationships where one partner does a high-risk job. Fire fighters and police and soldiers, etc. The other person is left alone and worried for long stretches of time. These are real worries and Max Monroe tackled these issues perfectly. I loved this part of the story so much.

This is a great book, with sweetness and PLENTY OF STEAM! Another great read from Max Monroe that you will definitely want at the top of your TBR.

Panty. Incinerating. Goodness.

Snow Job is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, only one bed, dirty-talk for days, romance! Sebastian is a man whose life has spiraled out of control and losing his job is the final piece to fall apart. He is struggling with addictions and he has finally hit his rock bottom. Kayla is the team member who reported his poor performance at work and eventually got his job. Let the HATRED begin!

Now, these two are thrown together on a winter retreat and the sparks fly, the pranks begin, and the sizzle is REAL. These two are both wonderfully complex characters that are flawed, but immensely likable. And when they finally cave to their attraction you will need to beware of your kindle melting from the heat.

This is a great story of redemption, life choices, and second chances...with some epically hot sex.
