okay a few thoughts:
1) Taylor Jenkins Reid is officially an instant-buy author for me. This book was AMAZING. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was AMAZING. TJR has my full readership from now until forever.
2) I read the paperback of this book, but halfway through started playing the audiobook while I read and THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT, PEOPLE. I'm a sucker for a full-cast audiobook. It heightened this experience so much.
3) I'm usually sketched by fiction that receives lots of hype before I can get my hands on it (especially Reese Witherspoon picks) because too many times I could NOT agree less. But this book deserves every piece of praise it has ever received and I'm convinced that TJR should absolutely consider songwriting in her spare time.

You know you enjoyed a book when you can’t stop thinking about it ... this one was compelling, mildly dark, and there were multiple times where I wanted to take our narrating character by the shoulders and shake some sense in to her. I can’t understand why this book has such low reviews. I really enjoyed “The Ash Family” and if you have a guilty pleasure for anything cultish, you will too.
This book has all the elements of something that I would ordinarily really enjoy, but the narrative was just so convoluted and hard to follow that I couldn't keep up for long. I listened to the audiobook of this one, so maybe my experience would have been different if I had the physical book in my hands. Overall I felt like it was just boring and messy.
This was interesting, and I liked that it was a change of pace! But I don't think I'm going to read anything else from this series lol
