ARC review, it comes out 7th of August.

We are back in the Hidden Species world, baby!
The species leader of the Elves, Raðulfr can use some love. He is lonely. Just him, an emotional support lemon tree, boring financial meetings, curious dragons and thousands of Elves.

Jared is a Wiccan and lives with his cat, Marge. Or Marge lives with her human, more accurately said. Jared joins a community program to deepen the connection with his magic. One evening the substitute teacher takes over the class. And uuhh, Raðulfr is kinda hot.

(Jared)
Seeing Raðulfr and Marge instantly take to each other makes my inner self do a little happy dance. I'm not much of a dancer so it's more like an arms flailing-wriggle-and-hip-bump than anything else, but it counts.
÷÷÷

Listen, when you are older, you know what is truly important with dating. These are green flag men.
Raðulfr trying to figure out-as centuries old Elf- what an 'x' means at the end of a message,  is adorable. As well as trying to plan a perfect date.

÷÷÷
"Hockey it is. That's the one where they're on skates, right?" His comment about ice jogged my sports memory, such as it is.
"Yes. And they play with a puck, not a ball. That's important."
"Puck, not ball," I repeat. "Got it. Dáithí?"
"Hmm?" He's still tapping at his phone. "What's a puck?" "It's a... thing. That they hit. To score. I never really paid that much attention to that part.
÷÷÷

But Raðulfr can't share with Jared who he truly is, because Jared is a human and he doesn’t know other species exist. The law doesn't allow to tell him yet. Can Jared handle the truth that will shatter the core of his beliefs?

Wooing the Wiccan have me warm, fuzzy feelings. It makes me smile.  What I love is that the characters are so realistic... and fantastical.  That goes together,  I swear! They were relatable to me.
There were many cameos with the characters from the other books,  which makes me incredibly happy.
The Wiccan representation in this book is beautifully, accurately and respectfully done, in my opinion. A nice peek for people who aren't familiar!

"Which of you is going to explain why my second-in-command, who is about to go to an extremely important meeting with me, covered in glitter?"

Listen,  if there is glitter,  I better start there.  I freaking love Jet -a jaguar shifter who just glittered Raj, a Bengali tiger shifter.
"Total accident. He wasn't supposed to get covered in glitter until after your bid meeting."

Jet isn't the main character. But I do think it is fitting in this review to talk about the side characters. They don't just appear on page.  I really appreciate that they are all fully fleshed out characters.  I need all their books too.
But first,  let me start with this book.

This book sucked me in and immersed me. I was there (there is tea, books and hidden libraries!)! My attention was held from the very first page till the last.  It is an urban fantasy. I love how this paranormal world unfolds organically within the story. No information dump.

Ayo and Ethan are strong and interesting characters on their own. Together.... hot! Yes, spicy!
They support each other to leave behind what is no longer working and step more into their power.
I loved the tension of everyone navigating the relationships within themselves and others.
The found family around them are funny,  loving and a force to be reckoned with.

Reading this book made me giggle and giddy, suspicious,  mad, 'nooooooooo'😱 and 'aaawwww'🥰. It was a 5 star for me!

If you love Hidden Species by Louisa Masters, Marie Reynard (the Elemental Bonds series) or Lark Taylor, you probably will love this.
Bite Marks and Broken Hearts by TJ Rose and Passing Through Purgatory by Nik Knight also come to mind!

ARC review

I am ambiguous about this book.  I loved it, but I also have some beef with it.

This book dropped me smack into this world. The world building excellently executed. I love it when it feels like I am right there and see what they see. I flew through the pages.

Skye and Mav are so freaking cute together.  And them snuggling and scenting makes me weak. My favourite micro trope is 'tucked in/under/against' and I stood no chance.  (Please if you have a recommendation for me let me know!)

I love them and I want to shake them.  To me it was very clear what Skye and Maverick were feeling and not saying.  When the perspective switched, it didn't give me new information. It felt repetitive, where I would have preferred to see some growth.
Also, this is M/M romance,  but I think it could have easily be a M/F romance with minor changes... that's a little disappointing to me.

Skye's brothers and Maverick's coworkers  were great and I want to know them better. And I probably will pick up the other books, because I am a curious octopus.

This book has a lot of silly moments.  The whole scene about nude pictures, made howl.

÷÷÷
Gods, send help. I do not look good naked. I swear these online p*** stars make it look easy, my nude pics made me look anything, but hot and spicy honestly, I looked like a poached chicken. I could flap my pale arms and squawk and no one would know the difference.
÷÷÷

But also it has some moments of hurt, that I really felt als a reader.

There is an abundance of spice.
To me it feels like a book that is written for the smut and not a book with smut in it.  I know that is a selling point for you,  dear feral readers and I love you for it.

Broken Alpha by Everleigh Fox

ARC review, the release day is 27th of June.

Calling all omegaverse fans that love fated mates, scenting and nesting!  How I love this cozy, cute with depth book! It called in all my senses.  It also evoked my favourite feelings. Look at my bookstagram name; reading (and) nesting. I stood no chance. So happy that I picked this up!

I love these boys. The storyline, the vibes, the hurt and the comfort.  And even though the relationship is taboo and forbidden,  it is handled beautifully.
I am sorry that I don't have many words, but the vibes... THE VIBES!

So I leave it at that and wrap it up with this quote:

÷÷÷÷÷
Someone was purring for me. He was purring for me. Tears filled my eyes, and I let out a soft, relieved chuckle, my forehead pressed against his. A purr was important to an Alpha and Omega dynamic. It's used to calm each other down and to express anger, possessiveness, love, happiness, and contentment. I had given up long ago I would ever purr and, in turn, that someone else would purr for me, to feel the vibrations of another.

Kestrel and Killjoy by Adrienne Lothy (Starhawk trilogy)

ARC review.  Kestrel is already out. Killjoy is coming out 24th of June.

Gay space cowboys.  Star wars meets Robin Hood, meets Dexter. Eat the rich vibes! SCI-FI enemies to lovers.
With physical disability representation.

It seems fitting that after finishing these books,  I caught myself staring into space. I needed to process.  Tension is written so well.  Although hope always remained, my stomach hurt whilst reading.
Not only the tension, also the world building and storytelling was superb! I was dropped into a whole new world, without being overwhelmed.  The writing is beautiful and emotive.

I have to say,  I struggled with the first book Kestrel. That has to do with dubious consent between the main characters.  I know many readers will love the tension between enemies, but that is often why it doesn't work well for me. And that is my only caveat. I'm glad I kept on reading,  because I've fallen in love with these boys. They are complex and layered characters. The love between them,  precious.

If you loved Kestrel,  you are going to go crazy with Killjoy.  It is so good!  The story unfolds and twists and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
The consent in Killjoy is delicious.  And one of my favourite plotlines is them discovering and navigating their intimate dynamics.  Not only hot, but straight into my feels.

There are several side characters that I adore. How could I not with Lady Death?!

I am looking very forward to the last book of this trilogy.

Beautifully written.  Good world building.  Orginal. More angsty than I like.
I struggled with the lack of consent between the main characters.

This book made me cry, giggle and kick my feet. Educational as well.  I learned that a good apology needs a bit of dry-humping. 😂

I freaking love this book.  I love Gem and Rusty. I want to hug and squeeze them.  I might even want to nibble.

Rusty has a rough past. He keeps his grumpy distance to survive. With every layer that unfolded,  I loved him even more.

Gem is a big sweetheart with two hearts and a lot of arms.  I don't think the word subtle is in his dictionary. He loves deeply and gives freely.  But nobody stayed.

They are perfect together.  It was beautiful to see them fall in love in a exquisite slow burn. All my heartstrings were plucked.

I have adhd, but my brain squirrels have no problem focusing with this book. The storytelling pulled me in and immersed me completely into this world.
There are so many moments and sometimes complete chapters that I cherish.

It was great to see the rest of the crew too. The cafe is a great place to be.

I’d been skirting around the edges of life while telling myself it was enough. And it wasn’t. I’d been stable, but not happy. Content, but not fulfilled. Safe, but not satisfied.
÷÷÷

Two men. Hurt in their own way. Finlay was in love with his Alpha's wife. When she died, he grieved secretly and silently.  He moved on,  but not really.
"I don't really know what to tell ye. I'm just...in a rut." Logan snorted. "A rut is one thing. You're in a fucking ditch."

Chester has his wounds from a previous relationship. "I'd been so fucking weak. Six foot three and built like a brick shithouse, and I'd let that man bend and manipulate me as easily as a paper clip."

This book struck a cord in me from the beginning.  Grief. It was beautifully written. The flowers and the ritual stuck out for me. It gave grief and healing space. It doesn't mean the pain is gone,  but instead of being stuck, it flows.

To see these men finding each other,  was beautiful. Hurt/comfort, definitely. It is soothing to me to see accepting, healthy,  sweet love, after suffering.

The book is funny and spicy too:
"The bell rang over the door and my head shot up. It was Reid. And, sadly, only Reid. Not sadly, I berated myself sternly. Distance is needed from Finn, remember? An inner part of me, one I'd thought long dead and buried, whined back. But he's so pretty. And sexy. Think of all the muscles we could lick."

I was waiting for this book. And it delivered! But now I am again on familiar ground,  wishing for the next book! I love the Lark Taylor universe. I was giddy to see Lucifer's sons and their mates again in this book.  Can't wait to get Evan and Reid's book!

ARC review, but the book is out!

I adored these two, Alex and George. The dynamic,  the banter and chemistry between them was marvellous.

The story is sweet.  The kink is delicious, omg! Hot hot. The praise and the aftercare were sublime. Just the way I like it.  My bookish friends got random quotes and spicy flashes, because I want to share when I am this excited!

I loved the setting and the side characters. Fae is a gifted and highly skilled writer, in my opinion.  I am instantly  immersed into the story. I know where I am and with whom. Promptly interested and invested.

At 60 procent mark and onwards,  I did wish this book was edited a little bit tighter. Although it never was exactly repetitive, some sentiments and situation didn't evolve. Otherwise it would have been a full shiny 5 fat stars.

Favourite non spoiler quote:

"A sane person would not bring a sex toy to their ex-boyfriend's wedding. A fact that everyone-and I mean everyone-in the entire world knew except Drunk-Missy-From-Last-Night, apparently. There was no telling if she'd done this to fuck with me on purpose, or if she'd thought she was "helping". This, as in, packing my fucking dildo-nicknamed Nine-Inch-Neil for his length and girth- in my back-up backpack."

This is an ARC review,  the release date is today!

It is a sweet novella that transported me to Australian estate with horses. A billionaire and  a stable manager. Both are green flag men!  They are instantly attracted to each other,  but they are boss and employee.
As always,  I really  enjoy Louisa Masters' writing style. She is excellent in making me experience the story.  The world and the characters are vivid in my mind's eye.

As someone who is demisexual,  I have a preference for more connection before attraction begins.  Also to have a bit more story, other than romance.  So I'm afraid I am not the target audience in this case.  (Hidden Species and Grave Situation are on my favourite of all time book list!)

But I can see if someone is longing for a book that is easy, sweet, well written, low angst, low spice and mostly uncomplicated, this is definitely it!
