Carringer really knows how to expand a world through a series. All the characters are wonderful and I love them dearly. Overall, I enjoyed this book and found it to be a fitting conclusion to a wonderful series. It answered all the previous questions and had some satisfying developments. Would have loved an epilogue of some kind but overall, the open ending was great.

Another enjoyable installment of the Parasol Protectorate series. I've said it before and I will keep saying it - this author has done a marvelous job creating a world and then continuing to expand it with each installment of the series. I also just love all the characters and have enjoyed getting to see more depth to all of them.

Another fun read from Parasol Protectorate. So far this series has done a marvelous job at expanding upon the wonderful world built in the first book with each new installment. As soon as one question gets answered two more pop up, which is incredibly thought provoking and really gets you excited for what's next. Still love all the characters. I really enjoyed seeing the smarter side of Ivy and had a great time being introduced to new characters and villains. Excited to read more in this world.
I enjoyed this read - took a little longer than the first book to get hooked but once it happened it was great. This book delved into more aspects of the fascinated world built in the first novel. This book raised questions that I am dying for answers to in the next book in the series. And, pardon my French, but Jesus Christ that ending has me stressed. Running to read book 3.

I really enjoyed this book. The world Carriger created is marvelous. The rules of the Supernatural world were so interesting and unique. They were well thought out and complex but easy to follow/understand. And I judt reallt loved the aspect of souls: excess soul vs no soul. I absolutely loved every single character including the side characters. They were all well written and the interactions between them were incredible. The plot was really fascinating and every page had something new and fun to get excited about. The pacing was absolutely perfect and kept to enthralled the entire time. Overally, I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend. I'm very excited to read book 2.

The author did a really good job at matching the tone of the Golden Girls. It was clear right from the first page. And who doesn't love a good ol' cozy murder mystery. Overall, it was a good book - nothing groundbreaking - but if you love the Golden Girls you'll enjoy this book.

I enjoyed this read. It has a really interesting magic system. And I found it really interesting how the writing style itself is used as a device to expand the world and our understanding or lack of understanding to it. I got real stressed towards the end but the ending was perfectly satisfying and open to possibilities.

This book was a really interesting and original concept that felt grounded in human experience. I loved the focus on the healing and closure portion of grief - rather than the earlier stages. It discussed grief without being in your face sad. I felt like it made the overall effect more heartfelt. I can't really explain it but at 2 seperate times I was moved to tears. It's just something about the closure given during those scenes that i really connected with. I feel like this story really encompassed the journey of healing from grief. The ending focused on new beginnings and the forward motion of your life after the loss of a loved one. Overall, really enjoyed.

I enjoyed this read. Was I expecting to cry during it, no. Did I cry, yes. I loved how all the characters interacted. The way Patrick spoke to the kids was hilarious. It was a good story about grief and continuing to live through it.

I don't read much poetry so when I saw this particular book I thought it would be the perfect way to delve into the genre. The addition of watercolor illustration was a wonderful way to add emotional depth to the poetry as well as make the genre a little more accessible to new commers. As an eldest daughter who has lost her mother I found this poem to be incredibly relatable and saw myself in the poetry. I thought washing was beautiful imagery for intimacy, remeberence, and grief fitting the poem perfectly. I did not find myself overcome with emotion while reading but I found the poem to be beautifully reflexive of my own experiences.
