This was a good book that covers real life issues: mental illness, texting while driving, etc. The saddest part is when Trish broke down in prayer. It was a raw and such a real moment. I liked the disciple relationship between Trish and Marquita.

“Prayer is your answer. When I feel like life has taken me on a journey that I can’t handle on my own, which is most of the time, I go to a room by myself and give all my problems to my Lord and Savior. He always comes through for me. “

I’m at a loss on how to write a review for this book. This book is sad and hopeful. The things people endure in death row and in prison is unimaginable. Anthony Ray Hinton is an example of enduring and preserving through hardship. This book is one everyone should read. It is about hope, forgiveness, trusting God, and how to handle hardship. One of the ways Anthony Ray Hinton survived 30 years on death row is by serving others. Anthony has a true friend in Lester.

I liked the plot. It was so sweet to see how Jonah and Lauren fell in love twice. I enjoyed the timeline jump from the past to the present.

This was my first book by Mandi Blake. The plot and storyline I enjoyed. I also liked Declan’s friend group. The main concern I had was that the characters Delcan and Addie put each other in a place where only God should be. They didn't rely on God for help.

Throughout the book, I thought Della was unhinged and wild in her behavior. Della was out of control a lot during the book but I was glad to see her character grow. Della’s character reminded me of what life would be like if you let anger bitterness, jealousy, unforgiveness, etc consume you. I also liked seeing Darby’s growth.

The faith content was light. I did enjoy hearing Birdena’s salvation story. Philippians 3:12-14 was referred to in the book.

Overall, this was a solid story.
