This is a sad and heartbreaking book. I always thought suicide was an unforgivable sin but this reminded me that Jesus has forgiven all our sins (past, present, and future). I like the prayers, the grief support group, and the portrayal of people wrestling with grief and tragedy in their walk with Christ. As our world gets more and more away from God, people are losing hope. People need hope and that's found in Jesus.

“Don’t believe your problems are too big to fixed. Your today is not your tomorrow. Your problems are not your future.”

“Life is a gift from God and we are to honor it.”

“Hope is the confident trust that God will carry you through the trial. You can trust him”.

This story was beautifully written! I was invested in both timelines- 1727 and 1927. This book had so many themes: redemption, forgiveness, God’s grace, etc. The characters had to learn how to do things for an audience of One, forgetting the past and choosing to do better in the future, and that your actions have consequences. The gospel was clearly expressed and demonstrated. I loved how the father responded with grace in 1927. 2 Peter 3:9 fits this story perfectly.

Favorite quote:

“I must believe that all of us can be redeemed from the choices we made. None are so far gone that they can’t find their way back. Tis the beauty of grace and forgiveness. Neither would be necessary if we didn’t need them.”

Overall, this was an ok series. I liked the storyline and the characters. I also like the family dynamic with the Carters.
Concerns: sexual innuendoes and the one bed in each story

This is such an important story. I learned so much about what life is like for an immigrant. Things I have never thought about. God is mentioned briefly.

“It’s difficult to see the world from someone else’s point of view. But if we ever get the chance to catch even a glimpse from their shoes. It can change not just how we see them but how we see the world.”

I like Annah Conwell’s writing style. I like the characters and their backstories. I like the relationship Adrian had with his brothers. Grayson is hilarious. This book was funny but also had depth. I like how Adrian was considerate of Juliette during the memorial for his mom.

Concerns: characters sharing a bed twice
