The Body: A Guide for Occupants by Bill Bryson

If I had read this book I think I would've hated it, it is just (fascinating) fact after fact after fact and scientific names and dates and percentages. But listening to it was great. I recommend 125% to give your brain time to process all those facts, but also speed up Bill's reading enough that he doesn't sound bored with his own material 😂. Learned a lot, was often shocked, wanna listen to it again already, the only audiobook I have pondered purchasing.

Charlie is the most sympathetic character I've ever read. I see reviews say "it's just a bunch of kids trying to get through high school, boring!" But I'm like "it's just a bunch of kids trying to get through high school, fascinating!" The characters and experiences felt very real to me and true to my own high school experiences. Maybe if you had different experiences this book would feel unrealistic, but it felt very real to me. Big things happened and we just dealt with it and moved onto the next Big thing. And Charlie is my favourite. And Sam.

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

What Yarros does well, she does really well - fight scenes, sexy scenes and surprise endings. 5 stars for those. But the inbetween is repetitive (if I had to read "oh gods, he is so beautiful" or "if he won't be 100% completely honest how can I love him??" one more time I would've DNFed), often confusing and contrived. The ways she gets to the events and conversations that need to happen to further the plot don't always make sense. But if you skim those parts, the other parts are Can't Put Down. Will i read the 3rd one? I honestly don't think so, this one was so bad and loooooong. However, I'll also forget all this by the time it comes out, so stay tuned for my review of the third book 😂
