A solid 4 star read. Found it very reflective, and I really enjoyed the language, imagery and metaphors used. The setting of the Paper Palace was excellently painted in my mind. Characters were interesting also, very realistic and morally ambiguous. Trigger warnings of s/a so read with caution.

5 stars 🌟 Both a heartwarming and heartbreaking memoir, Zauner portrays her experience in such a unique and intimate way. This book feels one of a kind. It made me cry a lot, and also smile a lot. Wouldn’t recommend reading on an empty stomach as the descriptions and detailing of food is mouth watering in itself. This book made me think a lot about my own relationship with my mother and Asian culture. It is literally food for thought
