Thereโs something about this book that was unlike anything Iโd ever read, and thatโs saying something.

๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฟ๐ฒ: Contemporary romance
๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐: Dark romance aesthetic, opposites attract, all of the tension, yes chef, Jeremy Allen White coded (the Bear AND Shameless), found family.
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: James changes her major to her passion of painting, and her rich family disowns her. Stuck with no money, she learns the ropes at Oreo, a fine dining restaurant with a line cook whose turquoise eyes always find hers.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: I almost have no choice but to rate this a five.
It had a unique storyline, unforgettable characters, spice that was unlike anything Iโve seen on page, and my absolute favorite - chef vibes.
Ozzy had all of the Lip and Carmy goodness, but even if youโve never seen those shows youโd still fall in love with him - especially his inner monologue while falling for James.
And James is the kind of girl youโre rooting for from the start.
The found family aspect of this is strong, but the dark aspects are especially profound. Please read trigger warnings. But once you do, and once you motor through this book, drop in my DMs so we can gush about how perfect it was.
My only issue? I need an extended epilogue. And wanting more is a good problem to have.

The library is a pain in the butt, making me wait so long to read this book. I knew from the start I was interested, but that 8 week wait kept me on my toes.

๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: Riley Wynnโs second album skyrocketed her to stardom. Twelve breakup songs for her twelve exes. But one stands out, and she reaches out to him to join her on The Breakup Tour to help tell their story in song.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: I really, really liked this book. But itโs definitely an emotional rollercoaster.
If youโre a big fan of music in general, youโll love this one. Music - like poetry and the ocean and the night sky - is inherently romantic. And those of us that have a soundtrack to our lives will appreciate Rileyโs commitment to sharing her heartache.
Then you have Max, who is unapologetically himself. The two feel only destined for one another, and as the tour wears on and the tension crescendos, you canโt help but hold your breath as you turn the pages.
It was the awesome writing that tipped the scales. Both characters go through a lot of self reflection, and it was all so relatable. On top of that, I absolutely loved the HEA in this one. For a new-to-me writing pair, I definitely want to read more.

๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐: MMF, marriage in crisis, cheating, corruption kink, dom/sub dynamics
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: Briar and Caleb's marriage is at a turning point. They're disconnected and trying desperately to hold on to each other. But when Dean - a sex worker who is the opposite of the couple in every way - moves in to their garage apartment, both find themselves attracted to him for different reasons.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: I'm sure the second Sara Cate wrote that one of the main tropes in this book was cheating, everyone was worried about reading it. But listen - I have learned not to doubt Sara Cate, and you shouldn't either.
What she's done here is create another beautiful story, where love is a fluid thing that doesn't just belong between one man and one woman. The Goode Brothers series is an interesting take on religion and erotica, and I personally love the way it's playing out.
And for those of you worrying about the "cheating" - I wouldn't say it's in the most literal sense. This couple turns into a throuple earlier than the halfway point, so it feels much more like an evolution. The result of that evolution is a highly emotional and really beautiful story, filled with the spice you'd expect from Sara Cate. I absolutely loved it.

She's a chocolatier; he's a bartender. As they embark on a pop-up shop that will cement their future, they vow not to touch each other again. But that plan becomes even harder when they have to pretend to be a couple.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: If you've never read a Lauren Blakely book, let me tell you... they are SPICY. They're usually hot from the start, and The Almost Romantic was no exception.
Gage and Elodie had chemistry from the start. But beyond the spice, I really loved the found family aspect of this book. Gage was a single dad. Elodie was her younger sister's guardian. The characters connected in that sense, and it felt so much more vulnerable with that added layer of character development.
The premise was kitschy in the best way. I loved the chocolate/cocktails portion of this. I loved the way the two of them couldn't resist the pull to each other. I was turning pages breathlessly with the tension.
I haven't read any of this series, but this is the type of the book that makes you want to rewind and read the rest.

๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: Davis and Dakota had one memorable summer before she left him at his ranch so she could pursue her dreams. Six years later, she's calling for help, having escaped her abuser. She's pregnant and broken, and he's ready to do whatever he can to protect her.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: I love romance novels that defy the subgenre or trope, and the Runaway Ranch series so far has been surprising and absolutely wonderful. I've given both the first and second book.
This series is all cowboy, small town romance. But there's this underlying grit to it, a tad of darkness, that has be obsessed. David and Dakota's story was just as good as the first book, which is saying a lot because I RAVED about the first book.
Davis is brooding and bossy, the ring leader of his band of brothers, and his Marine background is just an added layer. Dakota is a survivor, and her attachment to Davis is so swoony to read. In the synopsis I mentioned that she is pregnant from her abuser, and man, the way Ava Hunter wrote that portion is so heart-wrenching and real. I know some people hate the pregnancy trope, but it's impossible to not love the way Davis falls in love with this unborn baby. It's just so perfect.
I honestly am feral for this series, and the way she's teasing the other brothers' stories is just leaving me salivating for more. I absolutely can not wait.

I especially applaud Suzanne Wright because even though she has so many books and packs, the books don't feel repetitive. This one was fun to read because Gwen was a human, and she was still able to form a bond with Zander. And as always, the spice was just right.
Highly recommend diving into these if you haven't already. If you need a place to start, I absolutely loved Feral Sins, the first book in her Phoenix Pack series. Read that and tell me you don't get addicted.

The two decide to fake being mates to get the world off their backs, but it turns out they were meant for each other in more ways than one.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Seriously, I couldn't help myself but be curious of this book. And it was a solid read. I do think, based on what I am seeing in the public reviews, that a lot of people were not ready at all for Omegaverse in with a cute cartoon cover.
For those of us who have read Omegaverse before, or those of you who are familiar with monster or shifter romance, I thought it was a pretty solid read. It read a lot like The Love Hypothesis if it was about alphas and omegas, with a TON more spice. Noah is super broody and awkward and quiet. Mackenzie is all sunshine and rainbows and sometimes oblivious.
I loved the story, and I particularly loved when Noah started to embrace is alpha-ness, as well as his pining for Mackenzie. I honestly think this is a great place to start if you want to get into Omegaverse but have been weary of where to start. It's a tamer, more starter version that might get you hooked.
As someone who is a seasoned Omegaverse reader, I would say that it's like Omegaverse lite. There's the dynamic for sure, and there's (oh so much) knotting, but it's lighter on the paranormal side and world building. I liked it - I think it's a solid read no matter where you are in your Omegaverse journey.

In 2023, I was pregnant with little girl and had pregnancy anxiety like you'd never believe. So when I was reading Before I Let Go, I had to put it down because the topic of pregnancy loss was a little too much for me. But I told you all I knew for SURE it was a solid book, and I absolutely love Kennedy Ryan's writing. Completely honest, I legit pounced on this ARC when I saw it come up on NetGalley, and reading it was an absolute gift.

I don't want to give any spoilers, because this book took some turns I wasn't expecting and I don't know about you, but I love gasping in surprise. So I will leave some of the story details out... but I absolutely adored this book. It was just as much about Soledad healing herself as it was her finding the man she deserves in Judah. And the complexity of Judah's two sons having autism, and Soledad's situation with her family, they were two characters that deserved the peace and love they found.
It was definitely contemporary romance - it did a great job of character development, and was definitely a slow burn, but it packed some heat in the second half. I need to make more space in my reading schedule to read her backlog, for sure.

Instead of the love story he was sure of, now the pair have to actively avoid each other.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Whatever Devney Perry is putting into these sports romances, I am addicted.
Forbidden love and coach/athlete might sound daunting, but honestly it's done perfectly here. There's no "ick," at least not for me. Jennsyn is 22 and plays vollyball. Toren is 33 and coaches football. And the way Devney Perry writes their connection, it's so clear they're only right for each other.
There's so much I loved about this book. Each character had their own struggles, and the way they grew into them and complimented each other was pretty much why I read romance. I also loved seeing it play out in almost a dual timeline with Coach, which hands down my favorite Devney Perry read. The sports aspect is really solid too, and I loved how both of them supported one another.
Beware, you should only read this book if you love pining - because the pining is SO real in this one. But you absolutely should pick it up.

I've read two books from R. O'Leary, and both had me laughing, smiling into the pages, and with heart-eyes at the end. Swipe Right for Monsters was more of the same.

๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: Nicole's fresh out of college, reeling from loans and her rundown house. Looking for someone to take care of her, she downloads a monster dating app and makes a few selections - and when she can't decide who to date, she decides to date them all.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: There's a special place in my heart for books that don't take themselves too seriously, and R. O'Leary's books have proven to be just that.
I didn't love Nicole at first - she's drunk when she downloads the app, and R. O'Leary made the five men she dates so loveable I was not in love with her for trying to take advantage of them. But as the story goes on, I was just rooting for that happy ending to come.
I love the monster aspect of this. There were two vampire best friends, a earth-powered shy fae, a cougar shifter and a werewolf. They all had banter between them, on top of the connection they had with Nicole. Sometimes, you really just had to laugh. On top of all of that, the spice was top notch.
If you need a no-muss, no-fuss read, I suggest picking this one up.
