I am so curious how this story will unfold. We already have a morally interesting main character with some severely complicated motivations and emotions.

I am genuinely impressed by the world building, the dialogue, and just the writing in general. It is sharp, witty, and clean.

After reading this, I've finally come to realize that I should stop reading YA.

I read the first page and I immediately knew where this was going. I tried to push through, but then I remembered I have other books I genuinely want to read so that was that.

I could tell where this was going and I was not here for it. The love story setup had me rolling my eyes and I could not STAND the male main character

Honestly, I would have preferred if this book were narrated by Brett, not Jake. As insufferable as Brett is, at least she has a personality and a backstory, more than we ever get from the narrator. This whole cast was insufferable and I'll just think that was Hemmingway's goal. Insufferable and cruel.
