Plot or Character Driven: Plot

Brilliant murder mystery with a great plot.

I should mention that the narrator for this story was not the appropriate choice - it should have been a younger man since that was the first person narrator of the story. The elderly lady who narrated was didn't have a a good voice range and her slow intonation didn't match the tone of the story!

One of the better Marple mysteries

A series I try to read every year
dark emotional sad medium-paced

The last part advanced very rapidly compared to the first and were very gripping. There is a lot of pathos and one truly feels for the 'Opera Ghost'.
dark informative medium-paced

Very informative and definitely something different to read. I wouldn't advise any person with a weak stomach reading this though!

Miss Marple stories are always good! However, two of the stories here are not Miss Marple's- they're supernatural stories.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot

Good writing as usual but the storyline was far-fetched, relying principally on the instincts of Tuppence rather than any real clues or logic.

Dark humor and very insightful. I would advice that you read a physical copy and not an audiobook in order to savor the language and philosophy.

It started off really well. I'm midway and it no longer held my attention.

This is probably the best of Murakami that I read. Having said that, it contains the same issues that I found with Kafka on the Shore. Murakami paints a vivid picture and he writes an intense plotline but there are so many secondary characters and so many subplots that ultimately don't seem to tie together in the end, that it is hard to fully appreciate what he serves up. A lot of the graphic sex and violence scenes appear to be gratuitous - at least, I don't understand the significance to the story.
