Really horny at times, really boring at times, but I guess when you're living in a boring small town like the characters in this book, there's not much else to do.
Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion by Jia Tolentino

Lots of really interesting essays in this book, particularly enjoyed "The Story of a Generation in 7 Scams" and "Reality TV Me"; "Pure Heroines" was by far the weakest one. It's mostly quotes of other books, that never really tie into any real thesis. Overall, I enjoyed reading this, and I realize the irony of being self deluded enough to think people might read this review or check this book out per my meaningless recommendation, but fuck it I guess

"He made everything he could make because everyone who makes something is only saying: Hi! How are you?"

First of all, the art style absolutely floored me. It's like if Hieronymus Bosch made zines. While it's light on biographical fact, the writing hits on a very personal level and deals with topics like celebrity culture and bipolar disorder and creativity with tight and succinct sentences. Even if you aren't familiar with Daniel Johnston or his music, I'd still recommend this book.

I've always been into the idea of noir fiction, or at least the pop culture understanding of the genre. At times, reading The Big Sleep was kind of tiresome, as the labyrinthine cast of characters grew and became evermore entangled. But in the end, the main character of Philip Marlowe was interesting enough to keep me engaged.

Big fan of the Paddington films so I decided to take a dive into the first book and it's fine. Pretty episodic and slice of life. It's got some charming moments but I think Paddington works much better in a visual medium. It's hard to convey cuteness over text

Read this book countless times but I've never owned a copy myself. Shout out to the libraries for keeping this in stock. First time reading it after the HBO sequel miniseries came out. Been waiting to rewatch it so I revisted Watchmen once again. Still fun, still pulpy, still operatic, etc. Love this book to death.
